How much more effective would Kim Bauer (Elisha Cuthbert) of the show 24 have been if she'd been born on a distant star? A little vignette to explore the possibilities:

Scene: Service tunnel beneath the opera house in San Francisco, she's facing down a suicide bomber who was trying to glow up the building.

Imagine how the suicide bomber she's glaring at in this picture feels now... he was born and raised in the rural expanse of an Arab country, fed a diet of hatred toward Westerners and women since he was a child, groomed for this one mission of violence. Now in his 20's, he is finally set loose, and has almost achieved his target with a blonde American female agent blocks his way.

He tries to gun her down with his automatic weapon, but the only damage is to the concrete walls of the tunnel and a couple of minor flesh wounds he receives from shrapnel. Her glowing eyes dissect him, looking for the best way to deactivate his bomb without getting anyone else hurt. The bomb is hanging on a hair trigger... no way to remove him from the tunnel and back through the crowd safely.

She walks closer, ignoring his threats, useless shell casings littering the floor, and instead of striking out at him, she embraces him. It's the first embrace he's ever felt from a woman, growing up as he did in a cesspool of hatred and religious obsession. Wrapping herself around him intimately, Kim's arms, legs, her entire body envelope him as best she can, her scent inflaming his senses, her soft hair falls over his face as she touches her lips to his ear and whispers, "Now."

A confusing and wonderful swirl of new emotions fill his body, only to flare back into his old hatred as he realizes she's trying to disarm him with her obscene beauty, with her flagrantly exposed femininity. Angrily, he releases his pressure trigger, and his last unworthy prayer is that she'll be the first virgin he finds when he gets to heaven.

The muffled blast barely shakes the huge building, contained as it was by Kim's body, the only effect being the scorching of the concrete walls of the tunnel from the hot plasma. A powerful blast of her heat vision vaporizes what bits of the bomber and bomb debris that remain, sterilizing the site. She turns and walks up the deep tunnel to retrieve her large handbag, and gets dressed in the fancy outfit and jewelry she'd been wearing before her quick change into her working clothes.

Pausing in front of a mirror after fastening her jewelry back in place, she knows that her date is waiting upstairs in his seat as the opera continues, unaware that the girl he'd invited to dinner and the opera had not only saved his life but everyone else's -- while he thought she was merely going to the powder room.

She knows he's playing his own game tonight, his clear intention to impress her with his money and connections and an expensive dinner and then get her into his bed. The usual dating game, for he sees only her figure and her beauty. Sighing, Kim realizes that's exactly as it should be given the dress she now wore. The game that never ended.

Pausing to study her reflecting, waiting until the overly bright blue of her eyes faded, making sure there were no smudges on her skin from the explosion, she dares wonder what it be like to someday be honest with a man. To tell him, even to show him, who she really was.

I'm so torn! I've been a dedicated 24 viewer since Season 1, which means that her character annoys me more than any other character on any other show. How many times can you get kidnapped in a 24 hour period??

We have to get this movie made.

There are very few things in the universe that can withstand 50,000 degrees of heat vision -- even diamonds burn up at that temp. But her costume and the girl beneath are just fine.

Sometimes, its fun to goof around and impress her boyfriend (lucky dude that he is).
