...to the Supergirl movie? I mean, I know there wasn't a follow-up film, but has there ever been any fic about what happened when she got back to Argo City?

It'd be interesting to see; assuming she kept her powers she'd suddenly find herself so vastly superior to everyone and everything she ever knew, and maybe there'd be problems for her there. Wasn't Kara originally a little...well, slow, compared to others her age? Don't remember if that was something in the movie or something in the script or a deleted scene or whatever, but she'd come back smarter, wiser and more confident than she ever was before...

Or possibly she'd find herself gradually losing her powers, and having to make a choice between Argo or Earth. And no doubt there'd be other Argonians wanting to go to Earth having seen what happened to her...

The whole movie storyline was outside anything DC Comics intended. Not only did it not have a legitimate backstory, but there was no continuation.

In the comics, Argo City was destroyed by a meteor storm and only Kara escaped. There was no place to go home.

The closest thing to a reunion with the Kryptonian culture that I can recall is the more recent Kandorian episodes on Smallville and in the current comic book series. But that was the bottle city, not Argo City.

Bottom line, the producers, director and writers of the 1984 Supergirl movie created a goofy, incredible (even by the standards of the genre) story that nobody else was going to touch. Which was a hell of a shame, given that Helen Slater could have done justice to the character if given a decent script to work with.

However, of far more promise is the current incarnation of Supergirl, where she's stronger, more mature and very independent, and is being portrayed rather well on screen by Laura Vandervoort. No longer is Supergirl standing in Kal El's shadow, but she's making her own decisions, right or wrong, and behaving much like a 21st century young woman should.

I suspect we are going to soon see her (in Smallville) as the older cousin who gets Kal El off his butt and into both the air, and his eventual role as Superman, even if she has to kick his ass to do it. I think this is the most promising story line for her that's come along with she arrived in the comics in 1959.

Here's a photomanip of Laura taking some 21st century license with the uniform:

Really I was thinking more about any fanfic from within our community. Sure, the film was vague, confusing and didn't really match up with established DC lore, but I guess 99% of us have probably seen it and it just seemed like someone around here might have followed it up at some point...
