Being neither Irish nor Catholic, I don't celebrate St. Patrick's Day, but I'll join in wishing a happy holiday to those who do. :)

Down here in Aust, all you need to celebrate St Patrick's is to where something green and have a few pints of the black stuff - guiness. Just another excuse to get pissed :D

To be honest, i dun even know what St Patrick's day is all about.

Have a good day none the less.

I meant "wear" not "where". Probably had a pint too many, hehehe.

I noticed the subject heading "holiday". Is this a public holiday in the States. I am not supprised that it is probably a holiday in Boston, though. Even the basket ball team is green,

St. Patrick's Day is not an "official" holiday here in the U.S., but it might as well be. My wife and I plan on going out later and drinking some green beer, or maybe a Guiness.

Me, I spent the day in Boston. Sank a few pints of Samuel Adams in an Irish bar in Brookline, listening to a pretty good band run through the standards (Whiskey in the Jar, Black Velvet Band, etc).

I'm told that because St. Patrick's Day IS an official holiday in Ireland, pubs were actually CLOSED on March 17 (up until the 1960's)!

(BTW, just want to note that my post was offered in a thoroughly ecumenical and apolitical spirit ...)

Since spring break started for us on wednesday, my buddies and I considered driving out to CA to see Flogging Molly play, but we ended up going to Milwaukee and getting as Guiness-ed up as possible instead.
