A CHRISTMAS 'KARA'L
by Argonaut

'Twas the night before Christmas at Argonaut's house.
Argo logged off with a click of the mouse.
He'd read all the posts at his favorite site,
And now what to do for the rest of the night?
He straightened the star at the top of his tree
And put on his Christmas with Elvis CD.
Stoking the blaze on the hearth with a log,
He poured some Jack Daniels into his 'nog
And settled way back in his comfiest chair
As strains of "Blue Christmas" were filling the air.
Maybe he'd have a late snack by-and-by
(There was leftover turkey, and blueberry pie),
But for now he leaned back and rested his eyes ...
Then he sat upright again in surprise.
What's that? he wondered. What's going on?
For he clearly heard footsteps out on the lawn.
He strode to the window and peering outside,
He beheld ... Could it be? ... His eyes opened wide.
For standing outside in the winter-y cold
Was a beauty whose hair fell in ringlets of gold.
Her cape was bright red -- her miniskirt, too --
And her blouse matched her eyes: a bright shade of blue.
And emblazoned across her superlative chest
Argonaut saw a familiar red "S."
He blinked -- then again -- then he let out a yell,
For he knew right away it was KARA ZOR-EL.
He hastened to open the window up wide,
Ignoring the cold he was letting inside.
The damsel leapt up from the snow-covered ground
And in through the window she came in a bound.
She shook a light dusting of snow from her cape
And giggled as Argonaut stood there agape.
Then she proffered a gift with a conjuror's flair --
A flat little box, about six inches square.
Argo tore open the wrappings in haste
And there he beheld, in a clear plastic case,
A DVD with a message from Santa:
Here's a sneak peek at the film ATALANTA --
Coming next year to a theater near you!

"And now," said the damsel, "I bid you adieu.
"I'm flying all over the planet tonight,
Visiting everyone else from the site --
LFAN and ULTRAGIRL -- CONCEPTFAN, too --
And SPULO and BRANTLEY and ACE and MARKNEW!"
With a toss of her head and a wink of her eye,
She sprang through the window and into the sky.
And as she flew off Argonaut heard her say
"Happy Christmas to all! Up, up and away!"

Now that put a big 'ole smile on my face. What a great poem. I've added this one to my files. Thank you, Argo.

Awesome job, Argo! Glad you didn't let someone's laziness/forgetfulness get in the way this go round! :P

Merry Xmas to all!

Peace (on Earth)

I actually had a sequel to this but have writers block. Nothing rhymes with "yaracyrrah"! :P

I think she got lost on the way to my place. Either that, or Arish'ka wouldn't let her in.
