New book absolutely filled with ubergirl action. Its only 8 pages (B&W) but also only 75 cents, so check it out and let's encourage the authors to make more!

Thanks for the heads-up. The cover is a bit deceiving, but it's still worth 75 cents!

I'm in.

The cover is probably worth 75 cents!

OTH, the cover is misleading at this point. We also only have 8 pages, so I'm willing to invest to see where the story goes. It is a lot to ask of a creator to do 20 pages before getting any money. The cover will probably eventually be ok, so I really don't mean to sound that like I'm knocking it.

it does seem like it has some promise. A bit rough, but promising, and something I'm going to buy the next few of to see where it's going.

(The PDF auto opened so I flipped through it quickly, still haven't really read it.)

Well i like to support this stuff.
I did purchase the download.
As reported, just like the recent Patriotika comic, the cover IS misleading.
I know why they do it, but why do they do it?
If the creators know that the public wants a sexy, patriotic superheroine enough that she is the covergirl why don't they put her front and centered right in the comic for crying outloud?

I think we're going to eventually get there in this comic, we're just not there yet.

Patrrotika ... that was a deeper thing of the cover model not agreeing with the muscular build of the character inside the comic. While that didn't bother me, it was all bonus for me, I can see how it'd bother others. (I also felt they'd posted pages, so it wasn't QUITE a bait and switch, though I get why people were upset.)

Via the cover blurb it is a $2 comic.
At roughly 10 cents a page, 75 cents for 8 pages, that shakes out to about 20 pages.
Eight of them have been eaten up already showcasing the Intruder.
If Major Victory shows up anytime soon we only get 12 pages of her or so.
I'd rather see 20 pages of Major Liberty start to finish.

Regarding the cover, its not a big deal as covers frequently feature any of the appearance or action that is sometimes represented on the cover. Marvel, DC, Image, independents....they all do it......the most popular "misdirection" in our genre is the infamous cover of Mary Jane Watson ripping off her overcoat to reveal the Spiderman outfit.....not even a glimpse of that scene inside the book!

Problem with digital comics nowadays is there is a "leap of faith" when buying since you can't flip through it, but that's part of the fun. And there WAS a 3 page preview to better gauge the artwork, so hardly a major "slight of hand" from the publisher here.

If comics wanted to better represent their content via the cover, they should do away with "cover artists" then. But that's not gonna happen.....

I wasn't really complaining, just commenting. I'm glad to support this and also Patriotika. It's not like they are expensive.

In this case the cover artist and the interior artist is the same guy.
He is also one of the credited creators of the comic.

I stopped reading DC and Marvel before the century turned.
I look to the independents as "One of us"
They don't need to misdirect me.
I don't find it fun or a pleasant surprise.

A little more info on Major Liberty here.
www.airship27.com/our-first-teaching-gig/

"And finally, the Air Chief is very thrilled to announce the release of Lucky Comics’ MAJOR LIBERTY # 1, a character we created long, long ago for a small Maine outfit called Alpha Productions. Sadly that company folded before the character could be published. Now, all these many years later, pencil artist Kevin Wiggins dug up all 16 pages of her first story and send them along to Lucky Comics where inker Jimmy Hachey did a bang up job inking them. Then Lucky’s own Managing Editor John Helmer lettered the project from our re-written script. Issue one is the first 8 pgs of her origin tale and will wrap up in issue # 2. Only proving why we never – ever throw away our old scripts."

The DC Comics app for my iPad shows the cover and also three pages, usually showing the main characters in some minor action. So it's very obvious if the cover art and panel art differ too much. Everyone should do set up their sales apps that way..

And while you could usually browse current issues in comic shops back in the day, much of the rest of the inventory was sleeved. It wasn't cool to remove a comic from a sleeve unless the clerk did it. So we struggled with that same "judge the book by the cover" problem even with hardcopy comics.

Hello All,

I am the publisher of Lucky Comics and I really appreciate the support, comments, and complaints about our comics. ALL are welcome, even if it's tough to hear. It's our goal to make the very best comics and your feedback and ideas are part of that process.

A few insider notes on Major Liberty:

1. It's a creator owned property that we publish. Created by Marvel, DC, and NOW Comics veteran Ron Fortier. He wrote and Kevin Wiggins drew it nearly 20 years ago. It was not published, to my knowledge, and we are excited to add another strong female character to the Lucky Comics Universe.

2. The cover was done a few months ago and the interior art by a different artist many years ago, so that might cause a slight disconnect, but it is an origin story so the cover is more of foreshadowing than a ruse.

3. ALL Lucky books have the three page preview, so you get a decent flavor of what you are buying. The $2.00 cover price is for the print versions available at conventions and at www.indyplanet.com

4. Any feedback we will take to heart and try to incorporate into future issues. So fire away.

5. I write and publish a really fun, action-oriented female character called "Beetle Girl" I created her from the public domain Blue Beetle character and she's the granddaughter. I have four daughters and have been really working hard to publish something they would read. I'll create a thread and post a link for free downloads of the issues. Feedback appreciated.

6. I would entertain any further questions, ideas, and comments here for ML. Thanks again for the support.

Welcome to the site, John! Certainly hope that Major Liberty wasn't pulled out of the closet for a one-shot (including the 2nd part). Speaking for a good portion of our audience, I think a lot of us would be happy to support an action-based "ubergirl" book like Major Liberty!

Thanks again for the kind words of encouragement. I've been lobbying the creator hard and he seems open to continuing the story further. It would depend on a collaboration with a new artist as I believe the original one has moved on to a new career.

WELCOME!
I pretty much said everything I wanted to say already.
The book is called Major Liberty.
I would love to see a book about Major Liberty.
We don't need 8 pages of the Intruder in a 16 page book titled Major Liberty.
I will get part two when available.

We need more Patriotic Superheroines.
