Timing is close, but I picked up the first 4 issues for Gen-13 about 95.

I guess the 1990s were the golden age of buff superheroines, judging by the art they posted.

I just recalled I was in college.

Nope. Completely independent character developments with radically different origins.

Caitlan Fairchild was interesting except for one bit of silliness in the writing, at least for a couple of years or so that I followed the character in the 90's: She was totally unconscious of the effect her exaggerated fan-boy pleasing body had on others.

A woman on the team who was gay lusted after her, and every guy was drooling over her, but she was like "what are you talking about?", assuming she even noticed at all.

She was very intelligent and knew how to use a mirror, and could also readily see the reactions around her. But she had this deafness when it came to her hotness.

Anyway, it stretched the already thin bounds of superhumanism to a breaking point for me.

But we got artwork like this out of it all:

And did it inspire Aurora Fairchild?
