OK, stranded on an island with only 3 movies, what would they be? Oh yeah, any uberbabe related films are not allowed (e.g. Supergirl, Terminator 3). My selections:

Hunt For Red October
Big Chill
Caine Mutiny

The notebook - Nick Sparks story, sheesh, sooo depressing, not sure if I can handle the emotional turmoil of being stranded and sad love story.

What I like:
The Professional (Jean Reno)
The Shawshank Redemption
The Band of Brothers Boxed set (all 10 episodes, I cheat :lol:

)

Movies or programs that I do not want to see:
Lost TV (luv the show under normal circumstances though)
Survivor - all the island ones
That tom hanks movie about being stranded and making a new friend of a spalding basketball
Lord of the flies

On the one hand, I think such a question is kind of silly, since no matter what three movies/books/CDs I picked, I know I'd be regretting my choices within a week.

On the other hand, I enjoy playing the game.

#1 is easy -- Lawrence of Arabia. My all-time favorite movie.

As for #2 and #3 -- How about The Godfather and Waking Ned Devine.

Or would a tape of the 2004 World Series count as a movie?

I'd go with the 3 extended versions of the Lord of the Rings. That's like eleven hours of footage, or some absurdly high number. And they're good movies...

Now if it was non-submarine, I'd go for Flight Of The Intruder and Apocalypse Now. But I'm sure I would be in big trouble if we limited it to non-war movies!

Actually, Argo, I nearly went down your rejected route of the sports tape. A "Best of Dennis Bergkamp" compilation would make the years on the island fly by...
