The supergirl of smallville

The supergirl of smallville was created by Rich
Where are her new and old adventures alike? I am missing Lana and her stories. If we have nothing new is there any chance we can get her old stories seeded as soon as?

Ace and I have drafted most of the next chapter, but we've set it aside to focus on our workshop stories. We'll get back to it soon and try to have it ready sometime next month. Thanks for asking!

they are a real silver age gem. A perfect blend of Marvel's romance comics and DC's "silly" stories

Now posted in the StoryBank: Chapter 24 of "The Supergirl of Smallville" -- an untold tale from the early days of America's space mission, with two illustrations by TGK.

Thank you for another great chapter, team Acenaut.

I'm a sucker for supergirls in space.

The illustrations were great as well; I loved her action pose on the cover.

This story is very strange to me, it's no secret I'm not a big fan of Silver Age style tales, yet it grew on me (in some part thanks to TGK amazing art) and I really loved this new chapter.

I enjoyed it, but man, I really need to read the series from the beginning! I've totally forgotten what's happened

Once again a charming and well-written addition to what's become a shining beacon in the small community of superheroine fiction. Absolutely wonderful writing, and including Friendship 7, as well as John Glenn's 'fireflies' and the heat shield difficulty was absolutely wonderful. NASA matches Titov.....with a little help from Supergirl.

Beautifully done.

Keep her away from the Bay of Pigs though, huh? ;)

And never ever forget that there are many readers out there who look forward to your stuff. I've been a huge fan of Argonaut since his absolutely marvelous Atalanta story, a thrilling counterpart to much of the genre, wherein protagonists are decidedly evil, sociopathic bad girls. Between Team Acenaut and the wonderful Dr. Muttonchops, we have two great sources for fiction, well worth supporting!

Thank you for the kind words, gentlemen!

DS71: TGK always does great work for us, but I think his cover art for this chapter is outstanding.

Anon: Come for the pictures, stay for the story!

goobers: Yes, I hope all the chapters will eventually be back in the StoryBank.

eromacque: Your post gives me an opportunity to note that Ace and I tried to follow the actual events of the Friendship 7 mission as closely as possible. NASA did cut the mission short because a faulty monitor led them to believe that the heat shield might be loose. And Glenn did report seeing "fireflies" through the observation window. The only thing we did change was having the mission take place on a Saturday.

We don't plan to involve Supergirl in the Bay of Pigs, although a little air support might have made all the difference. That sounds like a story for DietSnapple71!

An Atalanta fan? Wow. Thanks. I was working on a new Atalanta story for the workshop, but May turned out to be a horrifically busy month. Maybe I can finish it this summer.

Finally -- thanks for the shout-out to Dr. Muttonchops. I've always enjoyed his stories, but I thought he was really hitting his stride with his Fleischer-inspired Superwoman series. Sadly, he's been discouraged by the lack of feedback to his last couple of stories. If there are other SWManiacs who'd like to see more tales from the good doctor, send him some props!

Great work as usual! Now Lana saves the space program, it is a good plot change for a while, the whole romance stories with Lex was making me lose a bit of my attention. I hope she keep saving the day and maybe face some real threat. Why not bring some elements from old superboy's stories, like the kriptonite lad or maybe a nemesis, like a Lex Luthor for Lana's Supergirl

Going ahead is the only one way to go to the future.

Actually it's more like interested in the story, sold by the pictures.

Thta's something I will enjoy to see, yet I think that addising a couple more historical inserts will be interesting.

I love it when I get to read some SoS. This new chapter certainly didn't dissapoint. I really liked the little touches like Lana being a bit wary of flying too high because the lack of sound disorientates her a bit and her being a little in awe of the astronauts. I'm also intrigued by Jake and Clark's little scheme to try and find out Supergirl's secret identity. I'm sure Lex is going to try to derail them a little, but it will be interesting to see where it leads. And of course, the illustrations fitted perfectly. Thanks.

Chapter 25 of "The Supergirl of Smallville" is currently in rewrite, but Team Acenaut could use a little help.

We need a few simple sentences translated into Spanish. Ace knows Spanish, but he's been super busy lately and hasn't been able to send me the translations I need.

If you're an SWManiac, reasonably fluent in Spanish and willing to help out, send me a private message.

Thanks!

Thank you for another fine addition to the saga. I'd be interested to see if there is any fallout from Lana's activities in Mexico. I'm not sure how the State Department would feel about it...

That's why Lana's father was reluctant to let her fly off to Mexico, even on a purely humanitarian mission. (And in retrospect, it's partly why Lana kept her interference with the Friendship 7 mission a secret.) Ace and I will be exploring this theme further in upcoming chapters. Stay tuned ...

Personally I love this theme of getting involved in some real historical events, it gave the story a great sense of perspective.

As usual I loved this addition. It had plenty of action and some nice references to Lex's potential as a master criminal and the Spanish "Look! Up in the sky". Clark and Jake's investigation also added an interesting dimension, though it seems to me Clark's a bit less interested than Jake is in findimg out who Supergirl is.

I can barely wait for the next chapter, and I will be interested to see if Lana has accidentally sparked a diplomatic incident (though I would think public opinion would be on her side if any thing does come of it.

Thanks.
