"Lord-ess of the Rings"

"Lord-ess of the Rings" was created by lfan
So completely off-topic here, was listening to a radio segment talking about how much to pay for a diamond engagement ring and that the average "size" now is supposedly 3-5 karats (up from 1.5 karats about 10 years ago). Now personally I find that hard to believe, especially since it was the "International Diamond Institute" that come up with it (or something like that)

Anyways...... they were running down the list of celebs that had the "big ones" --- Kobe's wife (9 karat), Trump's wife (8 karat), J-Lo (5 karat pink), etc.

So guess who had the biggest on the list? None other than our little ubergal herself Jessica Alba (Invisible Woman), sporting an 11.5 karat rock! Apparently, playing comic book roles is paying off! Then again, maybe hubby-to-be is rolling in the cash too (dunno who it is, off-hand). Anyways, I thought it interesting enuff......

You shouldn't believe what you hear on the radio, lfan. (As Elvis Costello said: "It's in the hands of such a lot of fools who try to anaesthetise the way that you feel".)

Truth is: Ms. Alba's digit decoration is not a diamond at all. It is a strange, unidentified semi-transparent rock which was discovered buried deep in an ancient comet. No-one knows its origin, but there are rumours that it has a remarkable effect on human females...

For more on the subject, see the film "Jessica and the Ring", now playing inside my head.

Now there's something I wouldn't have known if it weren't for these forums. And admin is thinking of shutting them down?

BTW, Conceptfan, could this be a workshop story in the making?

Though why anyone would be "sorely upset" at the prospect of a super-powered Jessica Alba, I can't imagine!

Nah, it's just, like I said, a film that started playing in my head when I read Lfan's post. Don't know how it ended though. I got thrown out of the cinema 10 minutes before it finished...

That's a pretty interesting list. Interesting because one starts to wonder why the females needed such a big ring.

Kobe's wife= She had to put up with her husband's misadventures in a Colorado hotel room. She deserves it.

Trump's wife=She has to put up with that toupee. She deserves it.

J-Lo=If it's from her new beau (I can't remember his name. Some singer, isn't it?), then she probably doesn't deserve it. However, if it was from Ben Affleck, one word: Gigli. :x :x :x

One of the great standup lines from Tammy Pescatelli (Last Comic Standing):

"Kobe cheated on his wife and to makeup for it, he bought her a 9 karat diamond ring?!?! You do that for me and I guarantee I'll go out and personally find girls for you!!"

(it's funnier with her Sicillian accent) :P Please remember to tip your waitresses!!!

I think you better stick to writing superheroine movies and leave the comedy to the professoinals, LFan

Who said romance was dead?

Or should I take it as a reverse compliment - my missus' ring cost 100 quid...
