Well, it looks after a couple of years break, Texas is gonna get it. I figure we were due, anyway. They have it at a CAT 3 at the moment. It looks like I will be heading out Thursday to higher ground. That means I will probably be out of the loop for a few days. Plus, I'm taking the CPU with me. So, wish me luck!

We live on the water. I'm really scared that we may not have a house when we get back. It's a CAT 4 now and most of the models show it hitting just south of us. That means will get the bad side.

Having been through a few of the smaller ones here in Florida over the years, I know how bad these things can be, and I've never personally experienced anything bigger than category 3. I hope those of you in Texas have evacuated if you live anywhere near the coast. Hopefully, your homes will still be there when you get back, but don't count on it. More importantly, make sure everyone is still there to return and find out. Houses and belongings can be replaced. People can't.

Even down here in South Florida where hurricanes/tropical storms are expected, we tend to get complacent after a while and "forget" what they can do after a series of near misses. If anything good could be said of Katrina, I think its fresh in people's minds and is causing them to have a newfound respect for this one.
For anyone on the Gulf Coast in Texas, stay safe and god speed!

This thing has turned into a major monster. Not just category 5, but it's now the 3rd most intense hurricane ever recorded in the Atlantic basin. That means it bumped Katrina down to 5th on that list. Scary.
