Sarge's costume design
Here is the first prototype. No price yet. No boots, no cape. No attachment method for a cape yet either. No plans for cape. Keeping it simple.
Size small or medium. Mostly small. It is cheerleader quality. Built for action and not cheap lycra. I think it looks damm good!
Maybe offer it here via SWM. Not trying to make a profit. Looking to break even. Looking to promote people to use it for cosplay, use it for movies, fun, and all the things we love. Sexy girls in my favorite costume.

Should I leave the strap for the hand or go with standard cuff? Double stitched. I had the skirt shortened a bit. Should be pretty leggy. There is some stretch for the chest area. Should be ok from B to D.
Any inquiries for purchase send me a PM and I will reserve one for you for now.
Two piece costume. Skirt and top. Hidden zippers on both for ease of on/off. The logo is dye sublimation and not a decal/sewn on.

Cape would add a lot more to cost. Not sure how to attach. Perhaps future order or custom.

I'd suggest forgetting the cape, Sarge. I understand tradition, but I think a great costume worn by the right girl would look way better without a cape.
And a costume that is cut low in the back (worn by a girl with a strong back) would look outstanding.
But not traditional. Or whatever "authentic" might mean when it comes to Supergirl (who has had so many costumes).

The Melissa Benoist costume apparently has the cape run down inside the front of the costume and attach to a corset that takes the weight. Melissa talked about the corset in one of the Comic Con round table interviews. The Chris Reeve costume had various capes for different types of shot -- I think (!?) the standard 'walking' cape had straps/cords that ran down inside the front of the tunic's neck, passed under his armpits, and tied at his back. This presumably meant that the weight of the cape was taken entirely by his shoulders and back, and wasn't attached to the tunic in any way so didn't pull it out of shape.
With your costume, if you added a cape of a similar design, the model would have to put the costume on but not pull the costume all the way up over her arms and chest, then someone would have to slip the cape over her bare shoulders and run the cords under the armpits and tie at her back, then finally pull the costume fully up over the arms and shoulders so the cape runs inside the front of the neck, and finally (reaching under the cape) zip it up at the back to fully cover the cords . At least, that's how I think it would work!

My only other concern is the hand strap. To have it or not. Kinda leaning no. Would limit use. Have to fit a larger limit of girls arms. Short to longer.

Concerning the ,Cape, you can stitch magnets that they sell for that type of stuff . They are really strong and allow the cape to attach "seamlessly"

Still not convinced of the band of fabric across the hand.

Then you look at the problems associate with a Kryptonian or Velorian or whomever who flies, fights and shrugs off firepower, etc. and try to come up with a realistic costume that will hold together under those circumstances. Even if its just for suspension of belief in a story.
Other than presuming an invisible forcefield that extends beyond their skin, or some kind of super-duper alien fabric of unimaginable qualities, it comes down to the idea that costumes are for public appearances before a fight. But high-speed flight, fighting, weapons and fire are going to reduce any fabric that can be made on Earth to threads or ash. So fights should always end with essentially nude combatants who have to borrow a bit of clothing from bystanders afterward to maintain some standards of modesty..
Which is fine with me. Imagining Supergirl wearing my worn leather jacket after a fight works just fine for me. With bits a pieces of red and blue confetti covering the ground or floating down from the sky, etc. Remains of that nice costume.
And, of course, she does have to give my leather jacket back before flying away.
That concept naturally doesn't work for comics and TV/film, but works fine in stories. And it is more "realistic", at least within the bounds of the extended reality that we choose to consider as being plausible (which varies by person). Whatever the case, that's pretty important to me.

Ok. Moving on. They sent two skirts. One is 11.5" and one is 16" tall. They said the 16" is more realistic. The logo is printed on. Skirt does not have built in liner/panty.
I will make a handful available at pretty much cost to members here. Size small and medium. I believe I have two spoken for already. Well under $100 USD. just waiting for shipping costs finalized. PM me to reserve one.
Ok back to work

Forgive me but I don't recall Natasha. Remind me please. I know I am going to smack my head for this when you tell. Just drawing a blank.
The skirt in the original costume photos above is 16" in length. I have a 12" version also sent. I have the first proof piece! It looks and feels great to the touch.
I have a local model willing to model it for a paid shoot.

She initially came out in the short skirt (12") and I about passed out. Complained it was too short and didn't want to shoot in it. So I pulled out the 16" version which is what almost every shot in the costume is. At the end I used my pleading and begging and she wore the short skirt for a couple dozen. Told her she could toss any that were inappropriate. She came alone actually. To my house. I said that was not the best but she could rest assured I was not a creep.
It was fun, I was very nervous, she was funny and cooperative.
Now I need to edit and play with the pics. Any software suggestions that won't break, the bank?
