All things get better with practice. Superwomen smashing asteroids might need spotters to track all the fragments that could disturb life on inhabited worlds astronomy.com/news/2019/03/its-even-hard...L4_stYphh0KhNvHlnQto

It's easy for Supermom when she can do this. No need to smash it up, just punch it back at a faster trajectory to where it came from.

The Vels were so exhausted that one of them had to take refuge on the ISS because she had lost the ability to fly.
That was one of my favorite ways of tying science into a superheroine story. I utterly rejected the Superman mythos concepts of bashing it apart or pushing it away. Instead, weeks of using flight powers to exhaustion at the perfect angle (perpendicular to its course) was just barely enough save the day (and the Earth).
Just another way to tell a story... in my case, my Earth Shine story here on SWM, from a couple of years ago.
Imagine the lonely astronaut, the only member left on ISS giving all others had left to be with their families at the end, discovering a young, nude superwoman floating unconscious in his airlock, needing his help now.

When I had superhumans deflect an asteroid, a huge Earth-killing one, I recall portraying two Velorians as working for weeks, to utter exhaustion, despite taking turns to recharge near the sun, to change its course just barely enough, while it was still far from Earth,.to barely graze the atmosphere, still mostly intact, but its surrounding rocks, some as large as houses, caused a spectacular show that rivaled a fireworks display, and causing some serious but recoverable damage. It's easy for Supermom when she can do this. No need to smash it up, just punch it back at a faster trajectory to where it came from.

Asteroid hurling, a game that combines orbital mechanics and incredible amounts of propulsive power. Depending on the deflected orbit a possibility might be an eventual intersection of future orbits. Early detection would be key to preventing disaster.

All that's needed to disable any wannabe Earth colliding chunk of debris are some nukes as demonstrated in this wonderful film. Just remember to watch where you step.
