Place number three for me goes to GeekSeven with "Double Eagle". I'm sorry, since it is in some way your genre, and since you write so much good stuff, but the competition was a little hard this time I assume.
The second place goes to Anon with "Divine Gift". I had to think about that one, since the choice of the country was great, but the story seems a little too straight and its much too violent for my tastes. I loved the part about the divine wind, though and I liked the character at least at the start. Im not so much for powercrazy girls, though
That leaves JKIJ with "Queen Elizabeth the Great" for first place. I liked the story. In fact I loved it, I loved the fact that it was based on a real person, which could be possible for Divine Gift, too, but since that wasn't the main reason I didn't research that further. What I really loved about the story, was the fact that the reason for the powers was based in the myths of the country that was represented. Both the others had aliens, this one used magic. Of course the myth about Morgana and Arthus and so on is tought here, in germany, so I assume its more or less known everywhere.
So these are my reasons, other then those I didnt write

[sigh] I know and to my defense I can only say that I was forceedd to write it very fast and had little time to re-read and modify. It's part of my limits as an author, my stories rarely went beyond 10 pages without encountering some serious problem. About the violence, well usually I'm not a big fan of blood and gore, but in this case they seemed appropriate, after all Hoshiko was comparativly untrained and unexperienced of the full extension of her powers, one thing is to know that you can lift a certain weight, but actually exercising that kind of strength is very different.

I hope I come up with something good when the time comes. Right at this moment my mind is blank for the next workshop - I never expected to win this one! For this one it certainly helped that I've had the basic outline in my head for a while now, though Morganna and "Falcon" (is anybody able to work out who he is? I don't think it should be too difficult) decided to show up quite late on. Thanks to everybody who voted for Queen Elizabeth. I hope that the second part doesn't dissapoint anybody when I get it written, though unfortunately it's not coming easily at the moment.
Well given the fact that the Merlin is a kind of hawk and falcon is closely related to hawks I think the rest is pretty obvious. Anyway I forget to congratulate too. If I get any good idea I'll PM you.
