A VERY Big THANK YOU from Judgment Girl

26 Dec 2013 18:14 #34847 by JessP
Hi guys!
I wanted to take a moment and personally thank all of you for helping me launch my YouTube channel!
LFan and Fats were instrumental of course, but everybody who's commented, subscribed, and submitted questions-you're all awesome!
JT and I are working really hard to put out more videos, answer more Just Ask Jess inquiries, and even start including some VFX. (I'm looking at YOU, CDR!)
Looking ahead to 2014, I'd really like to know what you guys want to see out of Judgment Girl!
We recently had a DC/Lucasfilm artist on the show; he and I had a really nice discussion on female superheroes, female characters in Star Wars, and what the ideal Wonder Woman should be. (Until he pissed me off and I went on a killing spree, of course!)
Would you guys be interested in watching some kind of "roundtable discussions" about Superheroines? I've connected with quite a few professional artists and writers who are all willing to join me. (Think podcast)
The #1 request I keep getting is for Judgment Girl to kill of another woman.
How important is that to you? Should it be funny, or more serious? Do "add-ons" like blood and guts, heat vision, etc. make a difference?
Also, how important are costumes to you? If you REALLY want to see me in one, what should it be? (Please keep things PG-13!)
Again, I'm very, very grateful for the support you've shown me and I can't wait to take this thing to the next level!
Jess

And a big thanks to you, Jess. Both you and JT are deserving of all the praise you get, and then some.

I listen to podcasts all the time while working, and would certainly listen to yours if one were released.

I can't speak for everyone, but I think I do, when I say that I hope you'll be slaying em in them in the aisles for a long time to come...

I really have not been able to get into the whole Judgement Girl character.
Her overuse of foul language really turns me off.
Have not been able to watch one video completely.
A more subtle and intelligent Judgement Girl whittling away her opponents with clever dialogue would be interesting.
Anybody can just curse.

my 2 cents.

1. Discussions-sure that sounds like fun. I will admit. your first video where it was just you talking seriously for about 10 minutes wasn't that great. but that's because in part becuse you do best when you have someone to play off- just talking to a camera is rarely great internet. But A serious video or a podcast could be pretty great if your in a room with others.

2. Costume-i would approach this with caution. No offense to some of the other video makers on the site but this is tricky to do well on a budget. But maybe it could be funny.

3- Serious killing- If you treated your normal videos with a serious subject it wouldn't be these videos. The old expression that comedy and tragedy are the same things at different speeds, and what makes them works is the comedy. If the victims wheren't comedy types-it would just be terrible. As to point out the obvious-if your character existed in a serious universe she would just be horrible.

or maybe it works-its like Superman(1978)-Lex Luthor is a clown for the entire movie, but once or twice he says stuff that is actually creepy-which kind of makes him a credible threat. But then he is the antagonist- and the entire point of judgment girl seems to be that your the protaginist in them.

Yesterday i posted link to a video about Tomb Raider-which is at its core involves someone killing probabbly close to 40 people in a 20 minute video. and the credits list her as "The heroine". Its just how you present it-which is the main comment i would make.

but experiment-play around! you deserve it you make intresting videos and i am curious to see more.

I would love to see some VFX.

Costume would be cool. A dark variant of anything you wish. Supergirl, PowerGirl, Mary Marvel, etc.

Stick with the humor.

Thank you for the videos.

I can't say I'm a huge fan of your videos, Jess. They're fun, but they're not exactly my kind of humor. Fact is that Judgement Girl seem a little too bipolar with her habit of asking questions just to say "shut up" a split second later.

As for your questions:
  1. Having JG killing a woman isn't a huge deal for me, but I'm not against it.
  2. The add-ons will be nice, but they can't make a good show on their own. Using them might help to convey the sense of superhuman you're looking for, but don't do a George Lucas thing and base the whol deal on them.
  3. I don't think that costumes are a big deal, as for VFX they might enhance the image you project but they won't do the job for you. In a sense you already have a costume since in most JG videos you tend to wear the same kind of clothes. If you decide to go the costume route good, otherwise you might want to use a slightly more varied wardrobe.

Not much of a fan of bloody violence, but simply exercising power and dominance is always awesome. A costume would be super-cool. I'd love to see special effects of powers and stuff. That is always a hoot!

I'm happy that I could help in a small way, I'm delighted that thus has been a success and that people generally enjoy it.

Here's to Jess in 2014.

I just saw the latest episode of Judgement Girl and my question was answered on the show. Thanks Judgement Girl! And about the format of the show:

Keep doing what you're doing. I find you and the staff to be real funny. The facial expressions are the best not to mention the editing really adds to it. Great timing between the actors makes it hysterical. I don't need the show to focus on "super women" or "super strength" fetishes. I love the idea that you are this angry prima donna heroine reviewing pop-culture. It makes it so funny. Thanks again.

Yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay!

Love the format, looking forward to seeing what comes next.

I personally can take or leave costumes, but for me the more super strength the better.

Whatever comes next I'm sure will be awesome, keep up the good work!

Yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay indeed!
