Everybody who knows me and my Superwoman stories knows that I am completely averse to stories involving peril. However, Argonaut and I have been talking about the possibility of doing an adaptation of the George Reeves Adventures of Superman series episode Terror in the Sky as my next Fliescher-era Superwoman story in which Superwoman successfully destroys a giant Kryptonite meteor headed for Earth, only to careen back to the planet with amnesia.

I would take the story in a different direction than the episode where instead of returing to the city as Clara, Superwoman would be herself for most of the story, and would be seen as an "angel from the sky" from the small town she lands in, who has no idea whom she is. Superwoman then struggles to get her memory back, just as Louis is faced with a yet-unknown threat.

As I said before, I hate the idea of heroine peril and humiliation, but Argo and I felt that the introduction of a deterrent to Superwoman could add some drama to the storyline. So what do you all think?

A deterent is always a good thing, but I was never too keen about the whole Kryptonite deal. While I can see the sense of it, the thing have been abused for decades, so I'm not sure it can really work. For a reference, in the recent Trinity episode of "The Brave and the Bold" Supes is facing Luthor and at some point mutter "Here we go again" refering to Luthor abeing about to bring out the old piece of Kryptonite.

Overall thee trick might work, but only if some serious creative thining is applied and the amount is kept under strict control.

I think you should go for it, as I see what you're describing and the peril/humiliation angle as being two extremely different things. I think we all have a certain image when we hear "peril" mentioned in this genre, but any good story has a little 'peril' in it, or else what's the point?

We know there are certain roads you're not going to take, and I for one appreciate that. Still, a story where there's a genuine challenge to overcome would be a nice change of pace from the more common 'omnipotent goddess' tales.

Thanks, www. I appreciate it.

Don't worry, Anon. If I do start to use Kryptonite, it will be used very sparingly.
