So, I'm in a creative writing class, and my professor is going to have us do a long character sketch. I figured that this will probably be a useful tool in getting a character down as well as a guideline on how he or she acts. And without further ado:

Character Sketch

A character may not want to reveal his or her secrets, but you, the writer, should know every aspect of the character’s life so that you will know the character's motivation.
As the writer gets to know the character, the story will evolve from the character. You might be able to use this character sketch to begin a new project or to deepen a draft, since learning more about your character can make the writing process and the revision process much more rewarding.

I'm used to do some pretty extensive work on my character, but nothing of this scale. I think I never even considered some of this questions when I work out the basics. I usually keep them an unknown factor and eventually add them to the character sheet as the story goes on.

Is it strange that I can answer many of these questions even for the character of my shortstory workshop entry? I think I'll start using character sheets as well for my stories.
