It looks like the "Open for Suggestions" thread was a casualty of the reload.
I want to thank all the members who offered suggestions for "Baker's Dozen," either on the thread or in private messages. Together, you sparked enough ideas in my own mind to fill MORE than two chapters -- so now I have to figure out which two to go with. It's nice to know that the story has so many thoughtful and appreciative readers!

I had a few ideas I was going to suggest, but it looks like I wasn't quick enough. Still, I'm really enjoying Baker's Dozen and looking forward to seeing what new girls are going to get powered up.

My main idea was for Bobby to power up a female celebrity such as his favourite singer or actress which could make for an interesting scenario. How would some who is already in the public eye react to having powers, would they want to (or be able to) keep them secret or would the use them as part of their job? I also think it could be interesting to see a 'dumb blond' get boosted, would gaining superpowers have any effect on her brain? Finally, I'm a big fan of fiery redheads and love to read any superpower story which features one.
Hope this gives you some food for thought, once again well done on the story.

I did play with the idea of having Bobby super-ize a female celebrity, but decided against it -- mainly because I'm past the age where I'm familiar with the singers and actresses who would be popular in Bobby's demographic. (Offhand, Taylor Swift is the only name that comes to mind and I can't even name one of her songs with complete confidence.)
2. I presume that "super-intellect" comes with the package, but whether the girl chooses to use it is another matter. Back in Chapter 6 (I think), Megan was "recruiting" boys to do her math homework for her, even though she might have mastered calculus on her own in just a few hours if she'd bothered. Of course, there are different kinds of intelligence. As a mathematician, I've known people with stratospheric IQ's but not much common sense. (I once made that point in a conversation where my wife was present, and she practically choked on a mouthful of beer. I have no idea why she found my comment humorous.)
Back in the 1960's, DC published a comic called "The Inferior Five," about a team of inept super-heroes. One of them was Dumb Bunny, who was very strong but very, um, "blonde" -- not exactly PC, but like I said, this was the 1960's.

A friend shared this on Facebook the other day.
Why is it that the red-haired ladies have the rep for being fiery, but less so the chaps? I have red hair, but nobody says I have a temper, IF THEY KNOW WHAT'S GOOD FOR THEM!

Just tossing in some observations about this. As someone observed about Shadar's Nachalnik, using real world references is a double edged sword, because it creates an easy frame of reference, but links the story closely (too closely in my opinion) to a certain moment and place. In this sense you might get out easier by creating a character who is inspired by a real world celebrity, but not quite the same (G7 did something like that in Celebutante )
My personal definition is that super-intelligence doesn't equate super-smart. It's a matter of quality vs quantity, I think, a super-intelligent character might be able to perform maths at incredible speed, but without the knowledge of certain principles she would be stuck to the basics.

One idea I was playing around with was that most of the enhanced brainpower is taken up by autonomic systems - keeping the superbody under control, being able to walk without leaving craters, being able to shake hands without crushing bones, Etc. There's so much that needs to be controlled to such a fine degree, that what's left is normal, or slightly enhanced intelligence.

This is an interesting idea but, I'm probably overthinking this, one might object that this would imply that a superhuman rely mostly on a conscious control oer his/her body, which might cause some really problematic issues when one sleep or is in any condition where conscious control is hard to achieve. In a way this reminds me of the geths from Mass Effect, a rca of AIs programmed to put autonomic functions in parallel when together freeing up RAM for higher functions.

Actually, my thought was that the unconscious autonomic functions would require more of the brain than in a normal person, so that they wouldn't have to be consciously controlled. The proportions of the brain devoted to unconscious and conscious thought would be skewed towards the unconscious, so most of the increased brainpower would be used there.

Actually, my thought was that the unconscious autonomic functions would require more of the brain than in a normal person, so that they wouldn't have to be consciously controlled.
