What happened to the story Nachalnik?

Hi,

I recall that story is quiet good mixing International politics (like dold war) with superwomen! I wonder Shadar plan to continue ( in far future) or it's dead for good.

Nothing is dead forever when it comes to my stories. Usually all it takes is a note like this to send me back to the original to see if it motivates me to continue. 

My problem is that I have so many unfinished stories, and I keep creating more. But I'm always dreaming up new ones (literally -- most of my stories comes from dreams) that have to be written. 

And let's face it, a little Russian intrigue that involves Putin as the bad guy, creating an army of supersoldiers to dominate the world, is always an enjoyable fantasy/nightmare.

That story was stimulated by one of Putin's supposed girlfriends, a Russian gymnast and later politician named Alina Kabaeva. She doesn't look like the average politician in Europe or North America, but I can understand Putin's interest in her. 

Especially if she was part of a secret supersoldier campaign that recruited gymnasts, who already know a lot about strength, power and movement. Or so my story went.

Well, Even if I didn't go through the entire SWM library, I don't recall a story focusing foreign politics like this one. I hope it's revive some day!

I recall that I didn't continue this story given I was criticized (and correctly so) for making characters out of men who were currently in power.. My goal at the time was to make it feel more real, but I came to understand that it didn't sit well with some folks. But going back and reading it now, I think it's been long enough and the politics of the time has faded enough to turn my characters into historical figures. 

I consider it one my better written stories.  But most authors have favorites that aren't the most popular. 

Anyway, if you enjoy it for the first time now, or you are rereading it to refresh your memory, and you like it, let me know. It was a really fun story to write and should be easy to continue if there's enough interest in Neya and the Professor.

Gee, it has never held back anyone in Hollywood writing fiction about living people..They even do "historical movies" about living people with plots grossly deviate from from what those people did (Argo, U917, etc., etc.).  

But anyway, just go back and change Putin to Patin and Russia to Roosia.  Also add the standard disclaimer that this is a work of fiction and not based on any people, living or dead.

A good story should not be held back !!!

Anways, that is my two cents.

BTW.  Russia has its own version of the Freemasons for members of the Russian Orthodox Church.  Putin be a member of that imitation group, not the real Freemasons. (And, given that more than half of European and Americas countries are governed by Catholics, I don't understand why nobody writes dark plots with the Knights of Columbus,.)

BTW, the Illuminati are Catholic.  The Catholic Church discourages its members joining the Masons, so the Illuminati were created in Bavaria as an alternative for them.  

Everybody in the USA seems to get that wrong, so don't feel bad about it.

I've heard lots of stories and rumors about the Knights of Columbus. My dad was a member. I almost joined. For those who aren't aware, the Knights of Columbus was founded in 1882 in New Haven, Connecticut as a "pass the hat" insurance system. One of the first visits I got from them, when I was considering joining, was from a guy selling their insurance.

So if anyone is thinking of writing a story involving the Knights of Columbus as the villains, and you want to base it in reality, model your bad guy after an insurance salesman.

This is a story that really really deserves to be continued!

Algae, an insurance salesman, exactly like my dad who was a mason. My uncle who was a CPA, and my other uncle who sold meat wholesale.  And I worked with a computer salesman who was a mason too.  You have to be able to say you are a monotheist to join, any kind of monotheist, Christian, Jew, Sikh, whatever.

That is what the mason are, a men's club for sales people and business people to make friends and contacts, provide mutual insurance, provide old folks homes, etc.  Masons, KofC, Rotary, Kiwanis, Moose, Elks, Lions, the Masons were just earlier, and have extra prominence in the UK because so many of their founding fathers were members.

But we must not let facts like that prevent good conspiracy yarns!  

(When I think KofC I remember those old Saturday Night Live shows with John Belushi.  And they'd have the kitchen ladies come out so the men could applaud them for the spaghetti dinner.)

Anyway, Nachalnik is a really excellent story that really really deserves to be completed.  It could be an epic!

Just a thought that this is escapism for many of us. It's a slippery slope from politics to religion.

No issues with keeping it generic.
