THE SUPERWOMAN FROM KRYPTON (An Introduction) was created by MalloryDyatlov59
Hello everyone!

I am new to the forum.

I'm planning to start a FanFic about a Clara Kent/Superwoman set in the 1940s, inspired by the Superwoman FanFictions made by UncleSporkums, John Byrne's "Generations" and a bit of 40s-50s film noir.

The premise is that a Kala-El is born instead of a Kal-El and is sent to Earth where she lands in 1918. 30 years later, Clara Kent is a reporter in Metropolis in love of course with Louis Lane and fights crime, supervillains and catastrophes with her red cape always hidden under her mil-mannered clothes.

The introduction of the context and characters, and a fan art I made in Midjourney can be found here!  THE SUPERWOMAN FROM KRYPTON by lordmallory on DeviantArt

Soon I'll start posting it here too if I get the story approved!

Any critique, suggestion, question or collaboration is not only welcome but appreciated!

VERY exciting! The possibilities that Midjourney allows have really proven to be fertile inspiration for a few writers. Your stuff is wonderful and the idea of Superwoman in an era of gangsters and foreign agents and atomic-age fun is a stimulating one. It's also a small stroke of genius to place her in 1948, when American women were back in the home after working in wartime jobs and we were only two years away from Eisenhower and an explosion in prosperity and the birth of the so-called nuclear family with dad off to work and mom the happy homemaker.

Can't wait to see what you come up with. Best luck!

I like the premise of the story, and the art you made is fantastic. Clara looks like a dream. Plus you put a lot of effort in the backstory of the characters, which is really nice to see. I'll be reading this one for sure

Thank you very much @eromacque and @erikphandel! The late 40's and early 50's are a very interesting transition period, we will see how Clara Kent flies over them. I hope in the next two weeks to upload a couple of first stories, kind regards!

Really enjoyed the work you put into the backstory and reinventing characters from the early Superman stories.

Reminds me of listening to early Superman radio shows back before TV, and then later the early Superman TV show in the mid-fifties. Your art and the flavor conveyed by your characters clearly draws on the time period.

Your immersion into that time shows you’ve really done your homework as you envision an alternate viewpoint on most events, which I found very interesting. Either that, or you are even older than a fossil like myself.

Creating a backstory of this depth with the dramatic world-building and the specific tweaks on well known characters from early Superman mythos is very interesting and has immense possibilities. I’m really looking forward to how you portray them in action and dialog as you put together the prose.

This feels like a passion project developed over years. Visuals first, which I can relate too, and then bringing your characters to life in a very pivotal time period in Earth’s history.

A time when anything was possible. Including a woman who could fly.

Dear Shadar, thank you very much for your kind comments! The truth is that it's a very interesting era, especially for sci-fi and superheroes, and I had always wanted to try to make a mix between the golden age and the more "postmodern" interpretations like Snyder or Byrne's Generations. You are absolutely right, Superman is for sure the superhero with the best mythology and I think it was interesting to use a hypothetical female version to reimagine the universe a bit! I hope you find the next installments interesting, best regards!

A post-modern take on the Golden Age...  fascinating (spoken with a Spock'ish lifted eyebrow).

As I think I understand it, questioning and reinventing everything people take for granted from that time period while immersing your characters and stories in the flavor and trappings of the Golden Age.

I can't recall that ever being done with the kind of accuracy to the period that your character bios and world building and graphics suggest.

While my writing could best be described as "modernism" -- looking for the rational and pseudo-scientific underpinnings of Kryptonian'esq characters, generally set in the future with a classic SciFi flavor, both with fan-fiction and original characters -- I've long had a hankering to try a post-modern Kryptonian story from a Steam-Punk interpretation of the Golden Age. But the amount of prep work to do it right has been daunting and it was easier to keep doing my usual takes.

Yours is the first serious attempt I've come across to put the work into re-envisioning the Golden Age through the deliberate distortion of post-modernism.

If your prose is anything like the quality of your world-building, this is going to be a great read.
