About 6 months ago i wrote a long post here about Fan Films, which i was rereading the other day-and how they are generally pretty terrible- if for nothing else there depiciton of Women. Its long and rambly but i am going to sum it up.That was regarding Batgirl Spoiled a film withmaybe a budget of say 10,000 if not less which is still a lot. This was i am going to Page around 100k. This is a very competently produced and well executed peice of special effects film....

And still the dominate image is a woman chained up.

There is some real money behind this and an agenda.
I stopped watching when they gave the Pink Ranger the soldier girl Calhoun's back story from "Wreck it Ralph"

Well in any fan film theres real money. People spend it. A dollar can be a fortune to some people.

This one used more of it.

There are plenty of Nerds in this world who are very wealthy. Dot com made plenty of millionares and there is money everywhere. In theroy i should be glad for something like this. This is a lot better then a boat.

This is produced by the guy who Did Dredd a movie i Genuinely Love. Its directed by the man who did Torque a movie thats silly enough that its hard to dislike. Its got the actress six months ago this group was clamouring to play Supergirl.

But yeah why when people do stuff like this it just seems like those videos done in alleys where masked people beat up girls.

I severly doubt this is going to lead to anything more. This seems very much a demo video as a fan tribute, and while it keeps all the actors name in the air(and probably going on demo reels for stuntts and VFX).

That is likely not going to come out. But in any case- the secret of that one-the Pink Rangers the hero. She does stuff more then get tied up and worked over, and watch everyone in her life die. The budget for that one i think maybe is 1/5 at most of that Shakar Film...but well this feels like an intresting dark version of the Power Rangers which i doubt Saban is going to push as far as it...but its somewhere. Power rangers feels a bit like torture porn.

By that argument Guardians of the Galaxy is a "Fan Film" because James Gunn was a fan.
He just used a heck of a lot more money.

No Gaurdians of the Galaxy was the most sucseful movie of last years and grossed like a billion dollars in theaters alone-also ancillary rights.

This is going to make penny Zero.

You could argue this maybe something closer to Specials the Zero Budget Superhero spoof he did like 15 years ago but i am not sure it really works either as that did make money as well.

This i think is a fan film-......how about it for those fans folks?
