and from Japan!
This came up on my You Tube Recommended feed.
I was really digging it.
I could watch this super cute Heroine fight in that costume all day.
Until I saw the third video. I'll let you look it up yourself.
It's right there.
After all this is from Japan.

Problem is, for every single video they make in there, they release 30 or more in akiba-web, plus there is a ton of peril too (not straight forward porn as in akiba-web but still ...).

I'm not a sociologist, but I remember an article saying that it comes from a very big dichotomy within the Japanese society. The idea of equal rights is relatively new in Japanese societyand this has caused a very powerful form of rejection from some groups. The idea of raping a superheroine (i.e. a woman that is supposed to be superior in almost every possible way) is the ultimate male-empowerment fantasy, an attempt to re-establish the "correct" social hierarchy. This phenomenon isn't limited to Japan, but the superheroine angle seem mostly limited to it, with some carry-over to the U.S.A.

But to make it easy for us we can note here when we find the superheroines using their powers?
Example in the latest "Spandexer Sun Angel (GHKQ-42)" she lifts two guys by their neck and is overall playful with some thugs.

Reminds me of the many middle-aged financially successful Japanese women who went to Bali for their "Kuta Cowboy". They wanted nothing to do with Japanese men, at least romantically. One women my wife talked with said that Balinese men can be incredibly caring, gentle, supportive and still be confident, capable men. Men like that are apparently rare in Japan.
Perhaps this is another manifestation of the same thinking that lends itself to peril. Men who can't connect to women.

Though that discussion earlier about Japanese men and that culture did give some insight.
Peace.

You enjoy "girl power" films, right? And by enjoy, I mean in a kinky way? Peril is just a different, though related, kink. I think applying some moral standard to something that exists as pure fantasy is wrong-headed. I've been attracted to peril scenes, starting with comic books, since I was about ten years old. That was over forty years ago. I am just a normal dude. I've been happily married for over 30 years, enjoy great friendships and participate in a host of mostly outdoor pursuits. There has never been a hint of my kink bleeding into my real life. And that's not some towering act of will. In real life I am appalled by any sort of violence against women. It sickens me.
Perhaps that helps a bit, I don't know. People don't necessarily have a ton of control over what excites them. I wouldn't have chosen to find peril my thing, but it is.

I agree that the nature of fantasy and "kink" are varied and highly individual, and what works for one person can be abhorrent to another. Also that the key is to be non-judgemental given many of us strongly compartmentalize our fantasies and our real life.
The real problem with Peril is that it tends to overwhelm other forms of the genre. Which is where my reservations come from. The fact that Peril is more attractive to more people than probably everything else combined in our genre is concerning, and I struggle with that.
One cannot forget that we are in the midst of cultural changes that are unique in all of recorded history. Males and females sharing power equally. It has never happened before, yet it might happen in our lifetimes.
Yet our entire genre, in its broadest form, deals with fantasized female super-empowerment and male responses to that empowerment. That's tricky footing during such times, whether Peril or not.

Couldn't agree more. Unlike those who think everything we do is merely socially constructed, there's a biological component in many of our behaviors and the relevant one here is sexual attraction. I find fit, athletic women attractive. There are many times I wish that I simply liked skinny with large breasts like many of the other guys I know. It's also why I find it easy to understand how some can find attraction even out several deviations of norm even to the same sex. *Some* of this is genetic (and some environmental) but we all aren't wired the same and for many of us it *IS* simply wiring. No, I don't understand it either, but then I also can't understand when a butt ugly, fat, middle aged woman comes over to serve our table in a bar and because she has double D's or better several of my friends can't even form coherent sentences. Ugh.
We're all different. As long as it's not illegal and doesn't hurt someone else (in reality) or involve children then /shrug.

Um, please show me where I did that?
My quote was:
I've given up trying to understand why people enjoy "female peril films"
So what? I've give trying to understand many things, like doing the rubix cube. So what?
I don't care if you get off on peril films or girl power; if you're homosexual, pansexual or whatever.
Peace.

The tenor of the thread has consistently been to bemoan the fact that the Japanese videos in question, while having girl power elements, were mostly peril. No problem there, just personal choice. The sociology stuff is edging into ascribing some judgement, as is the "can't connect to women" comment. Into that conversation, your contribution was the line you quoted above. The value judgement isn't explicit, but it is strongly implied. It's possible I misconstrued your intent, but it seems quite clear.

Some folks like water, some folks like wine but I like the taste of pure strychnine....
That's my personal preference. Most other people's is different. Let everyone else drink what they like. One man's meat is another man's poison. All the trouble stems from folks trying to impose their tastes on others.
As we're a small community, let's celebrate/fantasise/fetishise female power together and leave the parts of the venn diagram where we don't overlap for other forums.
Please respond in soft tones as I still have a banging hangover.
