I think Melissa was chosen to play SG, as Mel looked more realistic with her modest endowments when she was running with superspeed. But when her body is super-invincible, it wouldn't really matter if Kristi had played the role of running around at super-speed! (And of course there are her two very large matters of Kristi using her superbreath and being able to fly).
