In the last few days a lot of strange things have been going in this city. As Chief of Police, it is my duty to remind everyone that no one is above the law. Break the law in this city, and you will face the consequences. There seems to be a certain element in the community that finds amusement in the playing of pranks, Unfortunately, not everyone sees the funny side of finding their car overturned in their driveway, or having their garden destroyed by an industrial turbo-fan. What may seem harmless fun is costing honest citizens large sums of money, and when the perpetrators of such childish crimes become known to police, then they will be brought before the courts and face the possibility of incarceration. It's a lot harder to laugh about these sorts of things from a jail cell. This is a very serious matter, and investigations are continuing.

Claims were made in an otherwise quite reputable newspaper recently that a woman rescued a cat from a tree by levitating into the canopy. Our inquiries have revealed this to a prank performed by a female street magician using deceptive means. The performer in question has assured my department that no harm was meant, and that it was merely a promotional event to sell tickets to an upcoming show. This is a good time to remind everyone that street performers are required to register with the city prior to any performance. Registration is free, but vital to ensure such acts to do not impede on the everyday citizen. The performance in question caused a minor panic, which in turn caused several hours of traffic chaos in the CBD. The performer was fined and refused permission for further public shows, and shall face local court to answer other charges. I hope others will learn from this lady's mistake.

In brighter news, last weeks blitz on drugs in the inner city reveals that fewer people are using methamphetamine. Out of over 150 venues searched, only 90 arrests were made. Remember: if your selling ice, you're buying time in jail. You will be caught; you will serve time. Unfortunately, cannabis use seems to be increasing. I remind everyone that this is not California. Dope is illegal here, and will be for the foreseeable future. If you are caught with a joint, you'll face penalties.
