Spring 2022 Short Workshop was created by Woodclaw
As some of you already know, a new workshop starts today.
Spring.Heat.It's that time of the year when you start to feel a bit more relaxed. And we all start dreaming of going on vacation. Maybe just for a few days and just relax in the sun.Well, it's not just us.Sometimes, even superpowered people need to cool down and take it easy...Or maybe they have to be there to prevent a disaster... or cause one.Whatever the case, let's take a big dive and see what happens when we have:"A Supergirl at the Beach"A 2000 words short-format workshop to celebrate spring. Here we got the rules:

Great News Everyone:
Our friend Robolord123 offered to make a custom illustration for the winning story.
If this doesnt' wet your appetite to write, I honestly don't know what will.

A little side note for all the writers: pleasa add a little tag [Spring 2022 workshop] to your entries' title, so that I can sort them more easily.

Hey guys I need some help if anyone can: I've got a boat in my story on fire that either needs to sink or blow up. How could an inexperienced heroine cause that?

Alternatively, she could be on board the cruiser and determines the best way would be be to push the stricken ship downwards into the water. She can swim to the shore just fine after her powerful push, but either way, her immediate reactions won't bode well for the panicking passengers.

Unfortunately, her superbreath of extinguishing air overturns the vessel, flipping the large boat over from port to starboard side.Hey guys I need some help if anyone can: I've got a boat in my story on fire that either needs to sink or blow up. Her superbreath creates a tsunami wave that puts out the fire but swamps or overturns the ship. Very distressing for passengers still evacuating, and also a problem for any non enclosed lifeboats. A future cleanup disaster as the fuel oil continues to leak and might continue burning.

It is only later, in seeing the devastation she has caused across the ocean she decides, 'Oops, I better get out of here!'

Her backward wave in creating her Super Tsunami will lead to devastating results hundreds of miles from her intended target. Her short, innocent breath duly has an impact across the ocean after knocking the large ferry boat over. Rising and rising, her astronomical output causes waves to rise hundreds of feet into the air miles away from her 'intended' innocent spot on the beach. Her superbreath creates a tsunami wave that puts out the fire but swamps or overturns the ship. Very distressing for passengers still evacuating, and also a problem for any non enclosed lifeboats. A future cleanup disaster as the fuel oil continues to leak and might continue burning.

As a long time boat owner, I would have the rookie supergirl “scan” the boat looking for whatever like drugs, guns or other contraband but she screws up and accidentally releases some heat vision and hits the gas tank in front of The engine. The tank blows up and starts a fire as well as create a hole in the bottom of the hull.

Trying to gently blow out the flames her breath goes across the tank opening pressurizing the fuel and creating a cloud of fuel aerosol - just like the fuel air bombs that do that on purpose. she succeeds in rapidly burning off the fuel as an aerosol, but the fireball and pressure wave could be vastly more destructive unless she can rapidly inhale the explosive cloud and cough up the liquid fuel into a tank. Can she figure it out and avoid the "oops"?

For all the potential participant, I have to remind you all that the final term to submit the entries is this Friday.
The entries will go online on Sunday as usual, so after submitting there is still a 24 hours period to tweak and correct.

I know this will come as a complete surprise, but I just want to announce that I will not be entering this workshop. Gotta keep up my 13 year streak, after all.
Maybe the Halloween workshop. If we could get the rules on that quickly (if there's going to be a word limit or something), I could maybe get started in the next couple of weeks to have it done by October.

Currently, we don't have any plans on restricting the word count, and it will most likely just be something like: Write a Halloween story where Superwomen are featured. You know, what you could expectI know this will come as a complete surprise, but I just want to announce that I will not be entering this workshop. Gotta keep up my 13 year streak, after all.

Thanks to everyone who gave me boat sinking ideas. I've cobbled together something resembling a story. Good luck to everyone involved

Hello all,
I know I am but an infrequent contributor, but the supergirl on the beach thing reminded me of a story I had long thought about writing. Hopefully I have uploaded it correctly, apologies to the librarian if I have gotten it wrong...

I just added my entry. It also happens to have a sinking boat and a fire, but they're unrelated problems. Unrelated, that is, except that the same troublemaker's involved with both of them and a few other ways to ruin everyone else's day at the beach.
