Spring 2023 Short Workshop Announcement
It doesn't matter, because now you have to deal with aLibrarian's OutrageAnd the only way to make things right is to write like there is no tomorrow. So, how did it come to this? Is the librarian super? Did a super piss her off? What lead to the super ending up in front of a furious librarian? All these questions can help guide you through this workshop! Here are the rules:
- This workshop has a 2K word limit. It’s fine if it goes a little above, but try and stay within the 2K limit.
- More than one entry per person is allowed, but try to be reasonable with the amount.
- The story should contain at least one angry librarian. Everything else is up to you!
- The admin team/Librarian can veto a story at their discretion if it doesn’t follow the general rules, or doesn’t adhere to the spirit of the site/workshop.
- The deadline is at March 31st 2023 at 23.59 GMT. As usual, the entries will go online on the following Sunday (April 2nd).

Also, I'd like to throw this idea out there. For this WS maybe we should keep the authors anonymous until voting is complete. Only a list of authours will be provided, obviously those that entered, but the stories themselves wont have an author on title.
I think it would make for an interesting discussion as to who wrote what story.
But also because I think that sometimes popular authors get the benefit of the doubt. For instance if I'm torn between 2 stories, one written by Shadar, Concept, or Lfan vs Joe Schmoe's story, while I many find the stories equally as good. I'll probably cast my vote for my favorite author. But maybe thats just me.
I dont know? what do you thinK?

I'll see what we can do, but I'm not sure if it's possible to completely hide the names.I'm thinking I'll probably enter this. Wrote 6000 word story, but i'm thinking I can trim it to under 2500 words, if that works?

Being left to my own devices, I tend to think about a story, come up with this grand novel idea....and never complete it.
As for my idea of blanking out the authors , im not even sure its a good idea, so if its any trouble....no worries

As Woodclaw has already mentioned, but might not be possible to remove the names (though I do understand your point).I'm thinking I'll probably enter this. Wrote 6000 word story, but i'm thinking I can trim it to under 2500 words, if that works?

In terms of the word limit, have you considered saving the current 6K version, and then submit a trimmed down version for the workshop? Win or lose, you now how a deluxe version of your workshop story!

Just create a dummy account, write down which author has what, assign all stories as to the dummy and reassign after voting.

Part of the point of a short workshop is to see what you can do with little time and little words.I mean worst case scenario if there are people that are interested afraid of not meeting the deadline you could extend it until the end of April. That must’ve meant as much as it was a funny title isn’t easy to do with a 2K word with that maybe 10 K would’ve been fine

As Woodclaw have mentioned, the whole idea for the workshop having a 2K deadline is to challenge people to come up with a little short story, and to try and encourage writers that doesn’t have the confidence/time to write a several thousand word long story.I mean worst case scenario if there are people that are interested afraid of not meeting the deadline you could extend it until the end of April. That must’ve meant as much as it was a funny title isn’t easy to do with a 2K word with that maybe 10 K would’ve been fine
I believe that both Wood and I are of the opinion that extending the workshop at this point doesn’t make a lot of sense as people have had several weeks to come up with ideas, and/or reach out to request the deadline moved.

we are less than 24 hours away from the deadline of the workshop, so keep on writing.
Also, as suggested above, this workshop will use a little bit of a new trick: all the stories will be temporarily uploaded under a "placeholder account" to dimish any possible bias in the voting process.
Of course some of you will be able to guess who wrote each story, but that's inevitable.
