Horror Workshop Proposal

Horror Workshop Proposal was created by fats
Hi all,
I was giving more thought to the idea of the Horror Workshop and I have a proposal for the site and I want some feedback on the idea.
My thinking is we have a long writing period of 6 months, with a completely open specification for the workshop, no minimum or maximum word count, no preconceived story line, no character specification.
The only thing it has to be is a Horror Story, it can be written from either the viewpoint of the girl(s) with power or from the non enhanced people, it can be set in what timeline or universe you want or it could be your own universe.
Last year we had a workshop that was very restrictive this year I want to take it the other way and make it as open as it can be.
What I'm looking for in this thread is for people to let me know if they feel that this could be a good idea, what they would want to be added to the specs for the workshop and lastly if they would be interested in being involved.
I wait for your comments

6 months? Or do you mean just in time for Halloween? I think it'd be fun to see what the authors could write....That being said, it'd still be a hard write.
That being said, I could probably come up with something in 6 months.

Last year we tried a very long workshop and the stories turnover wasn't that good. I think that 3-4 months would more manageable.

I count 5 stories which is pretty normal. And while I am not a big fan of overly long workshops myself, I think the turnover may be more affected by the theme of the workshop as it's by it's time frame. And the old theme was quite restrictive.

Sounds like a good idea for a workshop...Halloween would be perfect time to post horror stories. I'm with DKC on that.
I didn't realise the theme I chose last year was so restrictive. I thought it was a really really good one... I guess I let you guys down. Sorry 'bout that.

I swear I remembered only 3, but you're right, there were 5.
I don't think the theme was that restricting, but rather very focused since it implied a very clear starting point, which was probably not everyone's cup of tea.

Thanks for the feedback, I wanted to address some of the points raised so far.
The 6 month writing period is a long one, it would in fact take us to November rather than October, but the reasoning behind it is that I wanted to open the workshop to co-produced stories from new writers as well as current writers, so a 6 month period would be perfect if say a story was submitted from a pair or a group of writers' co-producing the story. It would also help with writers who can't produce a story in a shorter timeframe due to real life commitments so for other reasons.
Dru in my original post I made a mistake it was the spring 2017 workshop that I made restrictive it was not your one in 2018, sorry about the confusion.
I'm getting good vibes from people I'll leave this thread open until Sunday when I will make the decision on how we progress, but I'm getting goosebumps which is always a good sign.

I'm game too - it just might be in script form.

I’m game. But I think the stories should be released on Halloween.
I’m thinking of a horror story that also involves a Halloween party and a lovely young lady who arrives in an iconic red and blue costume.
Does she save the day, or is she the monster?

Agree 100% the stories should be released Oct 31st. Having now been educated in what is and isn't horror, I might chip in something too.

I'm starting a story now that might be suitable for this workshop idea. If it goes ahead, I'm in.
