Fall 2020 SWM Workshop announcement and questions
The Highlander wrote: I’ve just submitted my finished story, could someone checkto make sure everything has gone through ok (I’ve not used the current upload system
before)? Also the woman in it doesn’t transform directly into a superwoman but
changes several times over the story getting stronger each time eventually ending
up with a costume and full superpowers. Is this ok for this contest?
The story arrived safely, I'm not sure it fits the parameters, since the key point was a transformation with in-built costume as well.

Also, the costume isn't exactly typical of the genre, but hopefully it does the job.

Avalon’s comment reminded me of Bilbo’s farewell speech... it took a second and third look to make sure I was reading it right:
"I don't know half of you half as well as I should like, and I like less than half of you half as well as you deserve."
I love Tolkien,s very odd writing.

If you mean uploading specifically for the workshop, add a [Fall workshop 2020] before the title so Woodclaw can see that it is part of the workshop!

And now that I re-read it, I realize I did mistake what he was saying. Thanks for the heads up! I suppose it's appropriate. I don't think I ever fully unraveled that Bilbo farewell speech.shadar wrote: Avalon’s comment reminded me of Bilbo’s farewell speech... it took a second and third look to make sure I was reading it right:

I do love Tolkien's writing, though. He could really turn a phrase!

Woody wrote: Part of me wonders how Tolkien could spend 50 pages describing a tree...
The same way some of our most esteemed writers can spend multiple pages to describe how a costume clings to the curves of a superwoman.

At least the curves are interesting. But then again that's why my stories are 2000 words and about supererwomen and not epics based on foliage and jewellery

Aww, i had been looking forward to read it but seeing that it might go up next week is still great news!
I have a story as well that I had planned for the workshop, beside the one I did complete, but I might just have to release (read: write) It after this round of new stories.

Trees are very interesting if you have an Entish outlook toward them, as I do. Common in my neck of the woods (Washington's Olympic Peninsula). Everything out here is about trees and water and the mysteries of both.
People disappear out here all the time in the trees, but nobody gets too excited. Searching for someone who has gone off the trail is essentially impossible. People just shrug and say: "Trees got 'em".
Of course, Tolkien never wrote 50 pages describing a tree, but he did elevate trees to near the top of his mythology and he talked about them a lot. He was very "treeish", or so any Ent would claim.
And yes, some very treeish people in my area call themselves Ents. It's a mark of distinction.
But spending equal time describing a superwoman's curves is equally fascinating. Especially when writing such fiction while living in a treeish style.
