According to TVline.com's current poll, it's not even close! Supergirl is the overwhelming favourite in the upcoming 8:00pm slot:

I'm glad it's listed as Supergirl vs Gotham... A lot of people are saying Supergirl is going to lose to Batman. That's a bad time slot for Supergirl going up against Batman.... I don't know about you, but I have not seen Batman Yet on this show...

I haven't see any of Gotham and I've heard many mixed reviews of it. My general impression is that many people approached it as a Batman show, which is not.

I watched the first show when it came on UK TV, and thought that this looked crap, never watched the rest of the series.

I followed it for a while --- probably 10 episodes -- and while it wasn't terrible, it wasn't compelling enough to even watch it from my DVR queue. There are some good parts of the show. Robin Lord Taylor who plays Penguin is pretty good and the guy who played "Jerome" (Joker) in his first appearance stole the show with his performance. Actually might revisit it (from DVR) if he plays a more prominent role in season 2

Will say this for Gotham:
Jada Pinket Smith was probabbly the best Supervillianess ever on TV as Fish Maloney: Of all the actress she had the best sence of what the kinda show she was in playing it as kinda somewhere between Eartha Kitt and a monster. Yeah it wasn't her lifting the titanic or anything really physical but it was a fun evil presence of someone who was in charge.
it was a fun performance. Her stuff with the Penguin as he facilated between being scared and pyschotic really is what sold the show to give it any real interest.
Unfortunately it "was", which i am not going to fault them on. She not going to be in the second season.
Though other then her and the penguin they had a lot of intresting ideas: The Pyschologist Riddler, the Teenage and scared Ivy, that never quite went anywhere partially the script partially performance tied with a weak Gordon as the series lead So yeah.
