As in 3.2 demo, 12.9 million viewers for the premiere episode of Supergirl. Solid numbers and pretty encouraging IMO, given that it was a staggered timeslot, and that lots of people had already seen the leaked pilot. The real test will be how much they can hold that next week in their normal timeslot.

Still, not a flop by any means, as some of the haters predicted.....

My wife watched it with me and loved it so much so that she watched the tape right after we saw it live. Of much more importance is that I got both my kids to watch it. My son really did not want too and my daughter was luke warm at best. After viewing it, my son said it was pretty good and my daughter really liked it (no surprise as she watches the Flash) and they are both in that all important 20 something age group. I think this show has a bright future and my son even said that Melisa was just perfect in the role and really made the show. The producers were not lying when they said there would be no Supergirl without her. Here's hoping.

Those rating ratings don't even show DVR recordings. With DVR factored in as in Live plus 3, the overall ratings will much higher.

As well as CBS All-Access views. It's kind of amazing to me that TV has not come up with better metrics for network TV "success" given the variety of mediums now available (e.g. live, DVR, streaming, OTT, etc). Jimmy Kimmel is a perfect example of how his show's late night rating are not that great, but his clips he posts the next day get millions of views (and mostly feature advertising). It's a new age....

Still, until that day comes where we'll have some some of aggregate viewing number, I'm glad the pilot got some solid Nielsen numbers......
