If you really have to get Melissa Benoist to sign one of my works (so you can profit from it on eBay!!) ... at least pick an image that isn't a steaming pile of donkey droppings..!

Jeez, I mean, I feel like I should email Melissa and apologise. (If it wasn't for that pesky judge and his restraining order!) I don't want to sound ungrateful, but, y'know, there are better pics on my DA site you could steal.

This image was produced when we only had the two reference pics of the costume to work from, and as you can see I've tried to recreate the costume by hand, in a front-on view... a brave attempt, but far from 100% successful. This, I'd class as an experimental work. Later pics (when I had more photos of MB in costume) were much more successful.

Oh, and a question, if any of you are reading... What is it that you all find so offensive about the tiny translucent R5 tag I hide in the corner of each pic as a signature, that makes you want to crop it out? ;)

(Btw, if any of you happen to be hobnobbing with Ms Benoist, and feel the irresistible urge to get her to sign one of my works, just let me know and I'll consider sending you a hi-res clean (no logos, no text) version for free ... so long as you promise not to profit from it..!)

I once did a casual search on Supergirl on eBay years ago. I recognized almost every single piece of artwork, and it looked like very very few of them were being sold by the original artist. Instead, it was just a bunch of thieves removing watermarks, printing on card stock paper, and selling them as "prints." Sounds like things haven't changed. As an artist, you could send all day reorting images on eBay to protect your work.

It wouldn't at all surprise me if the autograph was fake -- the seller appears to be a reputable dealer, but who can tell? A Google search for MB's autograph reveals a lot of variations, many of them do look like the squiggle on my pic (but then, I'm no expert!) Here's another example, again using my work, from the same seller...

What tickles me about the image posted in the original message above is that, of all my images they could have used of MB, they picked probably my worst! There's no accounting for taste, I suppose. I dread to think what Melissa thought when she saw that image though...

There's a lot of sellers, as you say thedoc9, just grabbing stuff off of the internet, printing it, and selling it. Here's an example from some guy (in China?) who seems particularly keen on DA artists...

Some people, of course, had permission to use my stuff... B)
