Season 3 - A lot less fighting and flying so far

Why has their been so few fight an flying scenes in season 3 so far? Out of the the first five episodes, only in episode three did Supergirl herself do any real punching or kicking.

The writing is a lot better, but the action scenes are almost nonexistent. I' be noticed the same on Flash as well.

I noticed the lack of fighting as well. Perhaps the new team has wizened up to the fact she really is SUPERGIRL who would wipe the floor with any opponent (apart from Reign). Perhaps they have taken notice of realistic feedback from here? The fight scenes became a bit of a bore for me (see above). As for the flying... Can't get enough of Melissa flying!

Maybe they are saving that budget up for Reign later in the season, possibly for SG versus Reign fights as well.

Special effects are expensive. Spending that money where its most impactful and most conduicive to furthering the story would be a good thing.

One can hope...

In the first 7 episodes of season 3, there was only one episode, episode 3 were Supergirl had to do any real fighting. Why so little fighting so far? I' he noticed the same on Flash.

That they're saving money for the Supergirl vs Reign fight scenes? Or the Crisis On Earth X crossover? I'm skeptical of that explanation.

The first... Reign versus SG. Or so I hope. But it's all guesswork. No wrong answers at this point.

We'll know by the end of the season.

@andyf The writing this season has changed to include fewer fights and more background development, the one thing that has been noted other than the storylines is the quality of the writing. SG is not all about fighting, they tried to do that in the first 2 series and it worked to a point but it was not as well received as they expected. this year we have a major villain too battle I expect most of the fights to happen there.

This is becoming a show for the true fan rather than the fly-by-night fanboy who's only interested in the 30-second fight scenes, in other words, it's becoming an SWM production.

maybe the writing has improved because they have less money to film fight scenes? The writing on Flash has gotten better too. And like Supergirl, there has been a less fight scenes as well.

Until this week! What a great 4 hrs, and it doubled the ratings. SG is really kicking it this season. Great job Team Supergirl!

I think the reason why there's bee. less fight and action scenes on all the Arrowverse is because of the upcoming Black Lightening series. Five superhero shows one network as small as the CW is straining the network and WBTV bank account.

I keep watching the opening scene of the first episode of Season 3, starting with the song Daydreaming, blocking a minigun blast with her chest and ending with her stopping that semi before it hits a car.

That scene is both dramatic and filled with great special effects. Maybe just brief moments, but this is my favorite scene of all three seasons.
