Season 4 - Mighty Morphin' Supergirl
Anyone's guess what this is. The fact that the mask is opaque strongly suggests that this costume is to be worn by a character played by Melissa Benoist, allowing the production flexibility to film around the busy schedule of their leading lady by using a stand-in actor. If this 'stand-in' theory is correct, then these pictures show either a protective costume for Supergirl herself (being used to cover for the Melissa-light episodes while she's still in New York), or the season's Red Son inspired adversary (being used to minimise the amount of time Melissa has on-screen as both characters, with associated costume/hair/make-up headaches.)

And I am afraid it is.
That is a big negative for me.
Another reason to walk away from the show.
I like seeing Supergirl, in costume.
Go back thru the weekly breakdowns of last seasons episodes.
I highlighted the Supergirl in costume episodes everytime.
If Melissa is too busy to work at her prime job then let her go and bring in an actress who is more available

Is that a DEO agent with a gun hanging off her hip?
Must be the non lethal variety.

The suit looks like it could be a plot point of the season, so no doubt thats why it was highlighted in the season trailer.
I would imagine Melissa has it written in a contract that she HAS to appear in this show, and we wont be getting Robo-Kara for the whole run

Too early to tell what is really going on in those photos imo

Peace.

Option #2: It's the Red Son Clone: Seems strange that the Soviet/Russian/EasternBloc version would use red, blue and gold. Also seems strange that she would be standing next to Alex.
Option #3: It's Nicole Maines' character: Seems *really* fast for her to be in costume and I *think* we see a teaser of her in a different darker costume with a clear-ish face mask in the trailer.
(My suspicion) Option #4: It's the Colonel Haley character acting as "SuperWoman." Remember in the comic the military woman (Lois' Sister & General Lanes Daugter) with super powers via suit? That kind of character might work with Alex at the DEO at the start of her DEO leadership role but turns out to be part of a rogue govt military backed group that is tearing apart the ethic of Jon's DEO which Alex has to rise to tackle. They probably can't get Glenn Morshower (General Lane) or Jenna Dewan-Tatum (Lana Lang) (and what a shame) back so they are going with this approach... ...plus it gets them bonus diversity.

Gemma Atkinson please! (And her English accent in Canada would add a nice twist to her character.)
(E.T.A. I think Melissa has made her role her own. Can't really see anyone else playing Supergirl)

That's a new take on things! Perhaps they have to spice the show up in it's 4th series? Melissa looks a little older, more mature in that photo....Will she now be Superwoman?

She's buffed up with super strength! Kinda makes sense to go from slim, demure Kara to powerful Superwoman! (Melissa also said she felt powerful when wearing her costume.)

The costume looks nice without the sabre/foil/fencing mask. However, that is a photo-chop Fats, no?

Random321 wrote: I agree the costume is not a photoshop - what I do suspect is the photo where we see MB's head on the costume. The head sizing and lighting looks off and the woman in the background has not moved an inch from where the costume with mask on version of the photo can be seen. The pose and positioning is also exactly the same.
You are right. Perhaps Melissa has returned to California? (She is a millionaressalready) Can we have Gemma Atkinson please?!

To be fair, I don't think it was meant to be taken as real.
Peace.
