Dependencies

Another minor aspect of the transformation from normal to super girl that I rather like is the sudden and total removal of all she's ever needed to survive.

I imagine my supergirl characters don't need to eat or drink at all, though they still can just to be sociable, and it all gets immediately used up as energy so no need to visit the bathroom. Also, they don't need to sleep, but still can if they miss dreaming...

I know this isn't always the case. For example, Helen Slater's Supergirl still needed to sleep, but some super characters have been relieved of these dependencies. Not needing to breathe is a fairly standard one.

But to my mind the only thing a superwoman absolutely needs is sex. Lots of it. :)

With another superwoman. :D

I remember a Superman story in which it's established that although he doesn't require sleep physically, he needs it psychologically -- to shut off the stresses of his life as a super-hero, and for the benefits of dreaming.

I hesitate to tout "The Supergirl of Smallville" twice in two posts, but ace and I have adopted that idea for our story. We've even taken it a step further by establishing thast Lana's dreams are longer, more vivid, and more coherent than those of ordinary humans.

By the way, Spulo, I think that supergirl-on-supergirl sex is the one thing you absolutely need!

I think you've nailed it on this one, Spulo, although needing sleep to allow the brain to dream to remain sane is a nice "weakness" to inject (it can explain temporary insanity which can create interesting plot points).

Of course, with my Velorians, I made sex a combat skill as well. The only way to kill a fully empowered adversary was to drain their energy, and the only way to do that was to cause them to lose control sexually and orgasm continuously, each time losing a little more power. The winner is the one who can keep going the longest.
