Attitude!

Superpowers are all very well and good (and a gal's not super unless she's got 'em) but one of the sexiest things about a superwoman for me is her attitude.

It's not enough for the girl to BE super, she has to KNOW that she is super and reflect that in her behaviour. As well as being the "preference for the habitual voyeur of what is know as Parklife", CONFIDENCE goes with the territory. Who wouldn't be supremely confident if they knew nothing could hurt them?

Of course, with most supergirls it goes further than that and becomes arrogance. Personally, I find an arrogant, nose-in-the-air, sneer-on-the-lips attitude incredibly sexy. Hand on hips adds to this image for me. It's a picture of a girl who is well aware of her superiority and is revelling in it. Works for me, anyway.

I'd definitely place "attitude" above intelligence is the scale of, um, "stimulating" qualities. Anyone else have a take on this? How highly do other people rate 'tude in the scale of superwomen fantasies?

An ubergal definitely has to have the 'tude and the confidence, knowing that she is super and no one can do anything about it. She could be the hero or villian if she wanted --- nothing could stop her certainly. She digs her superiority over men and while she may not be overly smug and pretentious, she not afriad to show off if the situation warrents it.....

Yep, the 'tude is definitely key.....

One of my stories, "Rail Gunner Joe," was inspired by a picture of a model with that "attitude."

I agree, the attitude is one key features, if not THE key feature, of an Ubergirl.

But I have a question for you.

Is the attitude a requisite or a consequence of being a Ubergirl?

Inevitable consequence, I say. It comes from KNOWING she's superior. In my universe, the attitude comes as part of the super package.

But there are shades of meaning. I DON'T like an SG to be arrogant or mean, but I DO like her to be sassy. I like her smiling proudly, with her hands on her hips, knowing that she's.... whatever's the female equivalent of cock-of-the-walk.

I like arrogant and mean, but not as violent as Conceptfan usually writes them. I like it when she plays with the weaker people around her for fun, although usually sticking to the ones who have done something to deserve it.

In other words, I like ubergirls who are bad, but usually not killers.

I think her attitude should be as wide as possible. Sometimes I like the arrogant Supergirl, sometimes I like the insecure.. But there aren't many insecure Supergirls. As for Supergirls having to be confident, I dont think so.. I think if a girl becomes Super after being normal, she could be really insecure, in fear hurting somebody else. At least if shes really gentle.

There's no question that attitude is important. In my opinion, an ubergirl has to be incredibly confident and sassy but still maintain all the hero qualities. For example, she has no problem showing off to crooks but she won't kill them. It's like she almost feels sorry for them because they have no hope of beating her.

I'm probably not explaining it very well.

I believe attitude is a key feature, though I don’t like absolute arrogance or the super girl living with the delusion that she can’t be killed. Though this relates to my want for the super girl to desire even greater power no matter how much she has. If for some reason she believes herself to be absolutely unbeatable she may lose that desire to become even more powerful then what she already is.

I also feel that the super fem should still need some people, not so much for physical reasons but because she wants people to hang out with and talk to.

I can’t say there is an attitude that I favor over all others, it all depends on the setting though they are two traits that I always want them to have.

1. To desire even greater power no matter how much they have. Or.
2. To fear her own power and know that it is growing.

As cruel as this may sound there is something appealing about a female who never wanted any special powers but suddenly has then forced upon her. Just as appealing as a super fem who wants her power and wants more.

When I write stories about girls w/ super powers, I find it makes the most sense to me for her attitude to constantly be playing 'catch up' to her powers, always oversteering, understeering, ringing through etc. She's usually quite a unique animal, with no previous role models to base her attitude on. Super or no, she's making it all up as she goes. Often her powers get the best of her and she shoots waaaaay over the top, but then will backpedal for a few tender scenes in embarrased compensation.

Born human or not, interacting with y'all makes one constantly wonder if 'fitting in' or 'standing out' is the order of the day.

Attitude to me is always the stringed ball attached to the paddle of one's super powers. Its always moving, under tension, and being thwacked around.

But normal human psychology for a super girrrl? Definately not!

Of course, that's all the other ubergirls. I'm perrrrfect. :)

Love,
-White Paw

When I envision stories in my mind, working out details and all; I eventually come across a problem: if a supergirl is so powerful, then what is her dreams? What is her goal in life, if she has one? What is she willing to do if she meets honest opposition?

Thus far, story board wise, my Goddess-Eldar are about as alien as they come. To them, humans and mortals are amusing, perishable animals at worst, and at best, stray savage, ignorant children. They are also the most selfish and self-serving race in the entire galaxy. They would gladly slaughter or start a war that kills 10 billion mortals in the present for that in five thousand years into the future, thier goals are met.

Just because one of them is generous to a former soldier turned amateur mechanic doesn't mean that they care for the rest of the mortal galaxy...

...

Yeah, I got a lot of work to do, now do I? :?

Peace,
OCT
