Superman/Batman Apocalypse Trailer
The trailer for the new DC animated movie is online. You see a few quick shots of supergirl using her heat vision but that's all. We'll have to wait for the Sept 28 release to see it all

I also wonder if we are only going to see the crazed SG and only a flash of the "real" character right at the end. That would be a big shame to me as I'm sure it's why many of us are enthused about this DVD.

Hmm... Art style is not exactly what I expected. Guess I got used to the last WW DVD style – really like that movie actually.

Random they are releasing a statue that goes with the merchandising of the movie showing Kara in her uniform and I think I saw a small pic of her in uniform somewhere too on the web.

As long as she has her powers, it doesn't matter what look she has. As someone who doesn't care about comics, the reason I'm looking forward to it is because there should be a scene in the beginning when she first arrives, wandering the streets, Terminator style, confused and super powered.
Sounds good.

If so, then this is going to be a great movie for us. This is a raw and often violent Kara who has much to learn before she deserves to be called Supergirl. She's a disoriented and confused Kryptonian-raised girl who simply does not understand humans, and who falls under Darkseid's power.
Unlike Kal, who was raised as a human, she initially see humans as aliens, which makes her very dangerous and unpredictable.
This is hardly the gentle little Linda Lee or Linda Danvers and do-good feel-good Supergirl of the past. This Kara isn't afraid to flex her muscles and use her powers, often at the expense of humans, and Darkseid makes sure she has a mission suitable for her supreme abilities.
And Kara thinks she's more powerful than her cousin, and acts accordingly.
Great stuff... especially if its popular because that would set the stage for commercial acceptance of a kick-ass Kara. Maybe that's what's been missing in previous attempts to do either a Supergirl remake or a WW movie -- in today's movie market, you need a body count, and 'nice girls' don't sell. She needs to be a little dangerous and unpredictable.
They touched on this in the Smallville Kara, clearly drawing their inspiration from the latest incarnation of SG, but left way too much on the table, given they had to make sure Kal remained the focus.
Now we've got this CGI movie coming, and maybe a more assertive role for SG in the one Smallville episode that's planned for the fall. Here's hoping its all coming together and opening some doors.
If so, there is some genius back at work at DC who has a vision. We can only hope.

keeping my fingers crossed that there'll be some super-action.
Dido!!!
I hope it actually shows Supergirl kicking some ass before she gets brain washed though... I would much prefer to see some heroic acts while she is good and not bad.

Couple of the shots seem to indicate there are remaining true to the comic story, even down to her clothes (or lack thereof)

Pretty despressing if you ask me!
I guess the only reason he got to do this is because it has Supes and Bats...

1) It had grossed the least but it also had been on the market the shortest time
2) Since then, Public Enemies and Crisis reported even LOWER sales (and they featured Bats and Supe)
3) Those decisions are usually based on the chief idiot in charge at WB at the time. Based on the revolving doors those positions usually hold, all it takes is a regime change in that desk position to get a possible new 'open mind'
If the numbers to Apocalyse come in strong, perhaps it will give more hope for more heroines since this one features Kara and even WW pretty prominently. Still, the future mix will be heavy on Bats and Supe --- history shows they are the strong draw and WB has to pay the bills....

So I read an article with Bruce Timm that he does NOT have the green light for any solo female superheros... The studio was disapointed with the initial sales bubble WW DVD's so he is being forced to do male heros..
Pretty despressing if you ask me!

The good news is I have a friend that works in my area for WB and have just finished watching Superman/Batman Apocalypse.
The great news is that it is fantastic! This movie follows the comic book (which is one of my favorites) beautifully. The look of the characters, scenery and a lot of the dialogue are taken directly from the comic. Summer Glau was terrific as Supergirl. The movie does alter from the comic book at the end so it is different... but different in a good way(I won't give away the ending). Overall I give it 8 / 10
Now onto the stuff that matters. As far as Supergirl is concerned, for those who have read the comic you know that she doesn't really do too much until the end. She uses her strength at the beginning as we get introduced to her but the ending (last 25-30min) of the movie is where she starts to shine. What actually surprised me was the fact that Wonder Woman & Barda had a few good scenes in the movie which is stuff not in the comic.
Although I have access to the film I would like to say that I will not be posting any clips until after its official release for 2 reasons.
1. I don't want to spoil anything for those of you who want to see the whole thing.
2. I don't want WB to find out and get pissed off with me, my friend (as much as I love this forum I won't risk his job) or this board for posting clips.
Once the film is released I will be able to post these clips, so you will have to wait until Sept 28. I hope everyone understands

Dunno if this was recent or an older interview, but I remember something like that being said after the low(est) sales figures for the WW DVD. HOWEVER, if it is that interview that you mean, it should be pointed out that:
1) It had grossed the least but it also had been on the market the shortest time
2) Since then, Public Enemies and Crisis reported even LOWER sales (and they featured Bats and Supe)
3) Those decisions are usually based on the chief idiot in charge at WB at the time. Based on the revolving doors those positions usually hold, all it takes is a regime change in that desk position to get a possible new 'open mind'

I have to confirm what wwchem2 said. I also read the interview and the fact was that many of the DC Animated DVD - starting with Wonder Woman - sold poorly in the short run. It doesn't matter that in the long run Wonder Woman actually sold equal to New Frontier, the fact that it wasn't an instant blockbuster convinced the chief idiot that movies with superheroines aren't worth the shot, so they choose to concentrate on the big guns (Supes and Bats).
Other projects suffered a similar fate, Green Lantern Second Flight was put on indefinite hold/cancelled after the first sold decently, but the idea ofa a live action movie surfaced (a pitty since rumor was that it would have featured Star Saphire).
Public Enemies was - in my opinion - the worst DC animated movie so far, the story was a little stretched and the characterization of many characters was lacking (I particulary hate the unsecure and shy version of Power Girl).

(keep going)
Do not worry! The beating Kara gets I can only think its during a fight in the end --- MAJOR Smackdown. One of the best fight scenes I've seen in any of the DC DVD movies!!! It's not peril but she absorbs a LOT of punishment --- and gives it out too!!
