[Conclusion]
Conclusion
That does it for our potential Dianas, but as this collection of Wonder Women proves, who ends up snagging the part will have as much to do with competent acting as the specific direction Warner Bros. and DC intend to take with Justice League, and possible spin-off movies to follow.

Which actresses do you think could deliver a live-action take on Wonder Woman? Would they succeed in quieting skeptics and be a crowd pleaser, or just a dream come true for you, personally?

Leave your thoughts in the comments.

Back in the 1980s, Jaclyn Smith was my personal favorite fantasy wonder woman. Heather Thomas was my favorite to portray Supergirl, while Loni Anderson had Power Girl potential.

Among more recent actresses, I really liked Ali Landry and Charisma Carpenter as Wonder Woman.

I liked all the present day ones mentioned in the article especially Gemma Arterton

Grantes, the movie Diana has to be hotter than the sun, but for it to actually be a GOOD movie, she needs to be able to act.

Baccarin = scorching, but too small, and maybe too old (I'm all for a wonder WOMAN and not wonder GIRL, but if it works, we're looking at sequels, etc....maybe a decade on from now.

Carano = kicks butt and looks pretty good, but can't act worth a darn.

Bridget Regan = my vote, but again....not sure how old she is. early 30s? I'd say that's about the cap for the casting. Bridget is FINE....and can kick the booty.

How about this one: Jennifer Lawrence? She's young , but not too too young, and she's pretty tall. And she has the best acting chops of anyone on this list (see Winter's Bone. Awesome). And the older she's getting...well...the better lookign she is getting as well.

Just a thought.

(and this suggestion is made with a vague sense of disappointment. Why oh why didn't Warners make this movie just after Zorro? Catherine Zeta at her peak was BORN to be WW.)

Second the thought on a young Katherine-Zeta... but Jenny Lawrence would be great today. She can project power and emotion on screen and is the right age. And like Charlize Theron, I believe she likes taking on radical and varied roles. A black wig or some hair dye and some good workouts to prepare herself, and she'd pull it off.

We're unlikely to find a buffed, six foot tall actress who can do the job, but as we saw with Richard Armitage playing a dwarf in the Hobbit (he's nearly 6'3" tall), height can be handled on screen, and Jennifer is 5'7" or so to start with.

It all depends on the script and director. I worry more about that than the actress. Josh Whedon would d justice to both, but I doubt he'll want to try again.

Selena Gomez anyone? Cute as hell but so was Lynda Carter when she started her WW career. She could even start out as Wonder Girl and blossom into the role of Wonder Woman.
ETA Imagine her spinning round there to transform!

Could see Gomez-not a great actress, but she has a very good talent for seeming vulnerable and human. Corbie smudders? ehhh.

my two cents

Oliva Thirby-Is just a really good actress at playing a tough woman and playing something else at the same time. Which is a trick Still think Dread is the best movie i saw last year, largely becuse she gave by far the best performance in it.
( Saw Argo by the way, good but not as good and Anne Hathway in Les Misearbe was pretty good but not as good)

Terresa Palmer-A very good actress to look as if she is in an action movie and having a good time at it, and yes looks a bit more the part.
