That's what so many people on message boards are saying, that she is too skinny for the role.

What people fail to mention is she is going to go through a tough workout plan to her into shape for the role.
Also keep in mind, she was a personal trainer in the IDF before she became an actress and model.
She knows how to get fit.

If I believed in conspiracies I would think that Warner Brother's is trying to deliberately torpedo the character so they don't have to make an expensive Wonder Woman movie. A stand alone movie would be a costly risk considering several executives have stated that they "don't know what to do with the character"

This is the strategy they use all the time for male actors.
Take a look at pictures of hugh jackman, or particularly chris hemsworth-they look well guys.its frequent in movies to hire actors for superheros…that well you never heard of. It helps create projection in A superhero in particular you are looking for a specific set of acting skills, that’s not shakesheere-but at the same time not really how much muscle you got .its a better strategy then hiring halle berry.

That said donno. I suspect this may be a glorrifed cameo-but who knows.

Yes, she is skinny but you have got to think that WB has a whole team of personal trainers working with her to bulk up for the role.

By the way, I don't think her role will be very large for the MOS sequel. I think that the reason that this casting news is such a big deal is that WB is hoping to use Ms. Gadot in several WW movies, including Justice League.

Oh, my God.

There are literally no words to describe how disappointed I am.

I am NOT a fanboy comic-geek type who whines about 100% accuracy in superhero casting. At all. But this pick is so dreadfully wrong, so preternaturally stupid, so....well, even INSULTING to the character....I really don't know what to say.

As an admirer or strong, kick-ass female heroes, of which there are precious few, I was so excited to hear Diana/WW would make a big screen appearance. An Amazonian princess with the strength of Hercules.....

....and we get a waif with a shoulder span of 11 inches and arms than look like broomsticks. She is so skinny she has no womanly figure at all and in one photo, I could see her breastbone and her ribs.

It's insulting to the character, really. Seriously. And to her fans. And to fans of athletic women in general.

They cast WW for the big screen, and she literally weighs 120 lbs of skin and bones. A size ZERO Wonder Woman.

Hollywood, sometimes I really, really hate you.

Willing to give her a chance....I love her face! I agree she's kinda waifish in most of the pics, but some intense training can do wonders. She has a while to get in shape and I'm sure they'll put some "sexy bulk" on her. She's 5'9, so she isn't petite at least height-wise.

While I'm proud to say I haven't seen any of the "Fast and Furious" movies, I have seen clips of her kicking ass in the one installment and she played the part well -- and didn't look waifish while doing it. Remember, Lynda Carter wasn't exactly a powerhouse either.....

Agree on Lynda Carter (who is beloved by most fans for her TV role)... she was skinny, flabby with oversized boobs. I know we should be able to do better in this day of fit and athletic women, but I'll reserve judgement until I've seen the movie.

Heck... if they can make 6'3" Richard Armitage look like a 4'10" dwarf in the Hobbit, they can make Ms. Gadot look like WW. I'm more interested in the script and the way the director wants her to play the role and her ability to project the right attitude. That's far more important than the actor's dress size.

WW is a demi-goddess and the ultimate warrior. Someone who can hold her own against Superman in a fight. Someone who could easily kick Faora's ass. They've GOT to make that believable to win me over. Won't know if they succeeded until I see the movie. Lots of ways for them to screw that up, and pre-production shots and trailers will only hint at it.

I've gotta see the whole narrative to decide if I believe. For now, color me Hopeful.

I think she'll train like crazy and look great on camera when all is said and done for the five minutes that she'll actually be on screen.

I still think the movie could possibly end up being hot garbage, but at least we'll have a super strong woman in a big budget movie.

I think Gadot is going to good. She has a look of intensity that I always felt WW should have. I thought Adrianne pulled that off well, too. Don't know about easily beating Faora! ;)

As far as her body goes, cosplay girls aren't always stacked naturally but they pull off some pretty hefty bust sizes.

It's a better choice than Ben Affleck playing Batman.

Disagree with Shadar
Lynda Carter was wonderful as Wonder Woman.
Just the right proportions
Tall, curvy with some meat on her bones.
Not one hint of masculinity in her.
What a woman.
Lynda Carter is quite a lady also.
She is the first to wish the best too any any actress that has the chance to play a new version of Wonder Woman.

Also have to disagree with shadar about good ol Lynda.

There was a scene in the old WW show where she was in a rock "vice" room that was slowly closing on her. She spins into WW and braces her hands on the walls and pushes outward....well, There must have been some resistance for real, because Lynda's physique came alive, you could see some real definition and athletic thickness under her curves. She actually looked strong.....no way did she look flabby. (ADDED: found a pic. Sorry for the pixilation. But you can still se her definition, a little of her traps, etc.)

I also remember her on "battle of the Network Stars" (I'm dating myself). Anyway, lynda was a good athlete and a great swimmer, she won that event a lot.

Ugh. I still say there was a universe of better options. Jill Wagner, for one. Or the dream.....CZJ, circa 1996. Sigh.......

It's far, FAR easier for men to 'bulk up' than it is for women. My bet is that she puts on maybe 10 to 15 lbs of muscle. Tops. Which would still make her 40 or 50 lbs too small. My worry is that her frame just doesn't work for the role.

Do image searches for Erin stern or Samantha baker. In my mind, WW needs to look like that. Picking a woman with, well, a larger, more womanly frame would have been better.

Also, the fact she was in the Israeli army doesn't really mean anything. Every Israeli has to spend time in the army. Just sayin.

I might have been a bit hasty on saying Lynda Carter was flabby, but I stand on the point that she was pretty undeveloped muscularly. She would certainly not fit the role today, at least as most of us see it now.

Neither actor fits my vision of a warrior princess who can duke it out with Superman or Faora. But amazing things happen in movies, especially with the degree of post-production that is done these days.

Here's an un-retouched 1980's picture of Lynda in costume:

And an equally un-retouched picture of Gal Gadot, our new WW actress:

Looking at the Lynda pict in my previous post, I had forgotten how simple and cheap the costume. You can bet that Gal Gadot's costume is going to be much more elaborate.

Of course, that brings up the next major topic... what costume concept are they going to use? A more refined and highly-detailed take on the traditional costume (I hope) or some kind of costume thingy that better fits 21st century femininity.

By the way, if I was casting the role, I'd try to find someone who looked like either of these two images, and wore a costume like these:

By the way, those last are both Jeff Chapman images that I've done a bit of further enhancement on to match my peculiar ideas of WW. The first one (with shield and sword) is hands down the best WW I've ever seen. This is exactly what I think of when I think AMAZON.

However, the second image is damn good too, albeit more traditionally pretty and feminine. I'd be overjoyed with an actress in the role who looked like either image.

I guess we have to give thanks that Jeff breathes BELIEVABILITY into his portrayals. You need to be something of a genre fan to appreciate the characters and how they should look.

Here's hoping we see something like this in MOS 2... Ben Affleck as Batman (seriously bad casting) deserves to have his head stepped on by the goddess herself:

Maybe it's time to wait a little bit. Hollywood knows how to transform skinny into athletic/fat/anything, or the opposite. Let's give time to the time

WhileI agree that this lady is nowhere near the top of my list of possible Wonder Woman candidates, I think that there's a deeper problem here.
Wonder Woman is generally described as incredibly - almost absurdly - beautiful. Too often this boils down to describing her as "supermodel beautiful", which is a gross misnoner in this case. Usually supermodels tend to be waif thin - although this habit has somewaht shifted over time - while WW is in many ways more "meaty" and in general much ore athletic.
This last bit is the one that create the biggest problems in my mind. Since execs works on the "minimum common factor" (and are in general trend followers instea of trend setters) the idea of a woman being as beautiful and muscular as WW in their eyes is a contradiction, because muscular women are by default unattractive.

Love the way the internet goes ballistic whenever casting is done for a comic book character. I can't think of one casting decision that wasn't met with scorn from comic book fans. Even Robert Downey Jr. was criticized as "too short" and "too corny" for Iron Man. Well, we all know how that turned out...and don't even get me started on the venom directed Heath Ledger's way.

Point being, please give these people a chance before pouncing on them. Affleck could be just fine for Batman and Ms. Gadot could be just fine for WW. We don't know...

We also got noted pothead Seth Rogan as the Green Hornet
Johnny Depp as Tonto with a dead bird on his head.
Disney just about killed the western with that one.
The wrong actress as Wonder Woman will kill that franchise before it even gets a chance.
