Not sure of the powers of either girl. Anyone know any other information?

Its a reasonably smart, Young Adult Fiction ala Divergent, with a super-heroic light setting(no one puts on a costume) and a fair amount of mysticism. Its a about a teenage superheroine ala supergirl who gains incredible powers but also a sence of ridiculus angst at them. Not bad but clearly aimed at teenagers.

That said with a good actress in a lead it could be fun.And f you like the stuff on the board it could be a good read.

Both girls are super strong, fast, and tough, and can heal through almost anything that actually does hurt them. Beyond that, I found the story to be extremely angsty and rather bland. I gave up about halfway through. Still, the girls are unquestionably uber.

IIRC the power level goes up a bit towards the (somewhat weird) end. While it was a nice enough read, it somehow left a stale aftertaste. So much that I couldn't give you a rough outline of the story.
(For comparison, I'd have no trouble giving you a detailed account of Mike and Mannie's activities throughout Heinlein's The Moon is a harsh Mistress. And the last time I've read this was years ago, not months.)

Getting a little off-topic ...

The book's title references "The MAN Who Would Be King," a story by Rudyard Kipling that was made into a terrific movie starring Sean Connery and Michael Caine. Great story, great acting, great direction (by John Huston) and great photography. One of my all-time favorite movies. Check it out.

The story plays a lot with that to-updated to a comicbook type tale in that its about two people who have incredible power compared to normal people....except replace India with Los Angeles.

and you know what get the 20 something can play teen version of Connery and Caine for the roles and you may have something.

[And I'll throw this out there: Hallie Statfield. Shes an actress after True Grit who i think has tremendious potential-Hasn't really had any opertunity to show it]

That's pretty typical of stories that have an interesting concept but are otherwise rather poorly written. Good characters become like friends... we remember everything about them.

Of course, it's very difficult to write that well. Heinlein did in some of his books, but certainly not all. Moon was definitely one of his memorable ones. I like Friday a great deal, and it's closer to this genre (given Friday is a genetically enhanced woman). Some books, like Starship Troopers, were what we would call Young Adult today. The movie reflects that. You have to be pretty stoned to enjoy it, but then its great.
