Here is a recent interview with Luke Wilson about Super Ex. Sounds promising for the genre ;)......

Luke Wilson battles Uma Thurman in Super Ex
Author: Stephanie Sanchez
While promoting his newest release, The Family Stone, Luke Wilson talked about his next project Super Ex.

Super Ex is slated to be directed by Ivan Reitmen and written by Don Payne. Luke Wilson stars as a regular Joe who just happens to be dating a supehero, played by Uma Thurman.

When things get rough, Luke's character breaks it off. He must then deal with the wrath of a superwoman scorned. Here's what he had to say:

Q: Can you talk to us about Super Ex.

LW: I am starting that this week. It's with Uma Thurman and Ivan Reitman, it's another high concept comedy. I play a guy who starts going out with Uman Thurman's character and she turns out to be kinda like the Superman of New York, she's a superhero and she's a little tough to deal with in relationships so I break up with her and she starts using her superpowers against me.

Q: What are her superpowers?

LW: She flies, that old classic (laughing), she's got super human strength.

Q: So you've crossed the superhero and you're paying for it?

LW: Yeah.

Yeah ... but jeez, I can think of twenty actresses I'd rather see in the title role.

Awww, c'mon, Uma's not that bad. I fell in love with the ditzy blonde Noelle in cats and dogs. She'a done a variety of roles, including kill bill, which I have not seen I admit and also pulp fiction.

So she's a capable actor. And IMHO, while looks are imporatnt, the character is too, and I think she would make a very sexy character. Hopefully she's a bit devilish.

And she's had experience with poison ivy.

Yeah ... but jeez, I can think of twenty actresses I'd rather see in the title role.

I'm with Argonaut on this one. Hopefully, she'll do a good job with it, but there are still a LOT of other actresses who I would have preferred to see in this role.

I have no complaint against Uma Thurman on the grounds of ability or appearance ... but as Brantley noted on another thread, she just doesn't convey "uber-ness" -- to me, anyway.

Jennifer Garner, for example, I can easily see as a "super ex." Julianne Moore (who's at least as talented and as beautiful) I can't. Dunno why.

As for Catherine Zeta-Jones ... well, read my workshop story.

Hey, I hope I'm proved wrong!

Well ~ maybe you're nicer than I am Argonaut ~ but I can complain about Uma Thurman on the grounds of ability and appearance.

Appearance: Often I think I'm looking at a plastic doll when I see her. She also has the Seinfield "Bad Lighting" effect. One angle I have no clue who she is (a good thing) then they change the angle and I'm taken a-back. She's 35 not that old at all ~ but for some reason ~ I don't know why ~ she looks like she's already had face lifts out the wa-zoo.

Skill: She was terrible as Poison Ivy in Batman and Robbin. She can not play that kind of character ~ she's just too damn wierd. Paycheck ~ Gataca ~ Be Cool ~ Kill Bill ~ oh the pain.

I agree with you 100% ~ Jennifer Garner would have been perfect for this. She's got a girl next door look to her but still can crank it up. I know she would settle into the roll with no problems.

Dennis Richards (sp?) might have been good for the roll too (Is she alive? In rehab?)

I like the concept of the story ~ but with Uma as the main or secondary character? ...I'll wait to see what other people have to say. No opening weekend for me.

If the movie were scripted by Conceptfan, she'd squash him to death in that first scene!

She does look like the dowdy "Clark Kent" type, especially in those first two pictures you posted dr lazarus. I'll reserve judgement on her until I see her in costume. And hopefully we do get to see her in costume.

I think this is going to be a "Chick Flick" as oppsoed to something say like Wonder Woman. It will probably focus as the Comic Book "Ultra" series
did on everyday girl issues on someone who just happens to be Super.

I don't think most woman dig 5 inch high heeled boots with ultrashort miniskirts and Superboobs. My guess is that they are going to try hard to get guys AND GALS to see this movie. Hopefully, there will be enough
Superbabe action to make us all happy.

Ok. That is not a cool superheroine costume. I guess the producers are going for "chick flick".

Hopefully the producers will throw some action in there to try and satify the guys. I guess we'll see.

Any speculation on what the "G" stands for?

I was thinking the same thing. Maybe Glamor Gal, Glorious Woman or more likely, something like Gallant Lady.

Here is Mrs. Ace's take on her outfit. She describes it as stylish, classy and tasefully sexy. Unlike comic books where 96% of the readers are guys, I think 50% of movie goers are female. Look at the plot of this movie. I am sure that it is every woman's fantasy to have Super Powers to get even with some rotten ex husband/boyfriend/lover. As I stated before, this is going to be a Chick Flick, gut hopefully one we won't mind being "dragged" to see!

But -- Is this her superheroine costume or a stylish outfit she wears in her "civilian" identity?

I think ace is right: This will be a "chick flick" with (let's hope) enough ubergirl content to make it worth our while.

Despite my reservations about the casting of Uma Thurman in the title role, I have to admit she looks pretty good. I wonder if she's working out so as to look more like a superwoman?

The earlier pictures on this thread show her with reddish brown hair with glasses. This has to be her blonde "Superbabe" suit (or an early tryout of
one).

Here is the "Claire Kent" outfit.

Vs the "Superbabe" outfit.

img120.imagevenue.com/img.php?loc=loc203&image=073_uma2.jpg

To me, she looks like the perfect New York Fifth Avenue Superbabe that
women will love.

I think if the casting were left to us guys, we would go for Sports Illustrated swimsuit models, but I think women prefer to dream about
being New York fashion Supermodels and Uma fits that bill quit well.

Now that I have seen the costume, it is easy to see why they picked Uma for the role.

I like the boots, short skirt, and the fact that she's wearing pantyhose, though I do wish the hose were a little shinier. At least she's showing off her legs fairly well.

The gloves are cool, too. I don't know why, but there's just something classy about a woman in gloves that's always appealed to me.

With her flat chest, I don't think it would matter what she wore on top, unless she stuffed her bra.

The coat adds a sense of realism that is probably lacking from most superhero costumes. Hopefully, she won't wear it when in action, since it just seems like it would get in the way. Or maybe it's like Superman's cape, where it really should get in the way, but we're supposed to ignore that fact because the writers always do.

As for JumperPrime's question, when was spandex ever IN style? Superheroes wore colorful costumes when they were first invented because of the limitations of the printing techniques, and the attempt to appeal to kids, not because anyone ever though spandex was cool. Now, it's just tradition. This is more realistic.

Overall, I'd say this is about as sexy as we ever could have realistically expected from this movie. I personally would have preferred a woman with more curves, but she does look fairly nice in this outfit.

I guess the "G" probably stands for generic so as not to get any grief from DC or Marvel. My wife thinks Uma looks great in her costume
(translation, she would love to look like that) and I think she looks both
glamorous and sexy as well. Let's hope they do a better job with this than was done with "Catwoman”.
