I always love an article when I read a sentence and my brain starts to auto-correct. I can't help myself.

They don't even mention the Lady Liberators reformed in 2008, though they didn't have a comic. They did run through several issues of She-Hulk, their leader. I think it counted as a "team book" during that time. For that matter, so would David's 2007 run of She-Hulk (it was her and a female skrull as bounty hunters). And there is the She-Hulk/Weezi team in the Byrne run, though she's mostly a side-kick.
If you want something official, It's not _much_ better, but Daughters of the Dragon comic came out in 2006. They debuted in the 70's but didn't have a series until 2006. They even had a single issue Bizarre Adventures (with only female stories in the other slots too) in 1981.
Two must count as a Team as that is what the Birds of Prey was at start (oracle/Black Canary). And we'll conveniently ignore that sometimes men were on the ad-hoc team. The Power Girl appearances made it seem like Oracle worked with one hero at a time (though maybe multiples in rotations) and it's only later she worked with a TEAM of people in the field. In the main title this was worked out with Men: Robin, Nightwing, Blue Beetle, Superman... Occasionally a woman (Catwoman). Huntress doesn't show up until 2004 in # 64 (I ran through issues until I found one with her in it).
Though to be fair, the team up was done first in the 1996 Birds of Prey: Manhunt , which has Oracle, Black Canary, Huntress and Catwoman. I think this is what the article is counting. But this wasn't recreated in the comic until 2004, but that ruins the author's point. I'm discounting two issues with Spoiler, and some Power Girl appearances, as then I'd have to start subtracting for Blue Beetle, Nightwing, etc. I'm saying if you wanted a TEAM as 3 people, it's not until 2004 that this was really true. If not, well, Daughers in '06, 10 years later is BAD, but it's not 20.
As for Marvel, that's not counting 2010's Heralds. There's also 2009's Black Widow and the Marvel Girls. And 2010's She-Hulks. (She-hulks is two people, BW & MGs isn't an official team, but neither was Manhunt. Heralds was ad-hoc but they acted like a team.)
Or the non-mainline marvel 2010 Her-oes.(I had to go to my back room to pull the comic as I didn't remember the title).
The basic point still stands, I'm just being pedantic. (I mean the articles isn't really about that anyway, I just can't help myself.)
I do give props for the Femforce shoutout.
McMillan also forgets to mention that Man of Steel 2 HAS been announced, it just doesn't have an official slot yet (though there are two spaces pre-2020 that it could slot into). But we can't mention that either, because it ruins the groove. It is a fascinating insight on how DC is releasing movies -- though I think this is part of DC desperation to catch up. When really they should be taking their time and doing it right, not giving Ayers six weeks to write a script.
I do agree the movie is much better with Catwoman and Poison Ivy. Though the article doesn't say this is a done deal, the impression I got from other outlets is that it's admitted that this is what is happening.
Harley VASTLY improves the further she is away from Joker -- and I seem to think her popularity charts against that too. There are some crazy Joker/Harley fans, but it's really a poster child for horrible relationships.
We'll see if they actually commit to a movie with Harly/Ivy as a couple, rather than just "friends". It was only recently the comics actually stopped being coy and officially admitted they were lovers. It is 2016, this shouldn't be that big of a deal.
If anything, adding Ivy AND Catwoman, makes me think they'll just skirt the issue as they are hedging their bets. Just Ivy and Harley ... they pretty much NEED to deal with it.
