- Helen Slater sequel in the mid-80's?
Helen Slater sequel in the mid-80's?
(Helen Slater remains the archetypal Supergirl for me back then, much the same as Lynda Carter is always Wonder Woman for the populace)

I agree I always associate Lynda Carter as Wonder Woman and i alway call her Helen "Supergirl" Slater when I reference the actress.

That picture reminds me that Helen, being rather flat-chested, was required to wear these cheap prosthetics that had been designed for women who'd had mastectomies. They weren't very realistic back in the early 80's, as the photo shows. Really, really unnatural looking.
I'd heard that was very embarrassing for her, but given SG had always had great boobs in the comics, it became a requirement from the costume department.
Of course, Angelina Jolie had to do the same for Lara Croft movies, but hers were a lot better done.
I'm not opposed to doing this -- we're talking fantasy in any case -- but if they do it, they should make it look real. But maybe the technology was lacking back in the early 80's.

Despite that, I think she looked great and did a good job but the writing was terrible, and no amount of looks or acting skills could overcome that.

Bette Miller had the best line, "I have been kidnapped by Kmart!"

Its not a great movie, but its story has good elements, and it does feel kinda of tied up.

So many best lines in Ruthless People.

A rather fanciful notion, but a good ending could have been her floating down through the portal and saying "Hello Father, hello Mother, yes I've changed quite a bit! Look what I can do now!" as Kara became the all-powerful protector of Argo City, amazing her teachers and friends with casual displays of her new Earthly powers. Wishful thinking I know....
