You know i have said this before-The idea of a female Superhero-the one that tends to come to this is Wonder Woman-is most intresting in periods of time where the idea of a powerful woman is itself intresting. The 1940s and the rise of women in factories, 70s with femenism. This is the time she becomes present-and 90s in a way is a good example of that. While obviously women had worked for ever in pop culture and in feminsm circles this was the rise of 5th fenism of the idea of the non perfect woman-Ally Macbeels was the classic example had a place, where a woman could simply be that to.
And i am kind of curious if thats what there going for. Captian Marvel started very much as an example of 70s feminsim as an actual character-she was the publisher as a womens magazine at first- but kind of gradually become more of a warts character, a metaphor for rape etc. Shes not necessairly consistent in what she represents-and picking this as an idea could be neat.
i may have said this here, i may have said this elwsere but the picture of brie Larson siting in her couach looking kind of intrested but tired reading captian marvel comics was the best thing so far i have seen from the project. They make somehow that the movie, you got something.
