There are 3 females listed in the article

What separates the Eternals from other Marvel races like the X-Men and the Inhumans in the comic books is that the Eternals don't rely on just one or two powers. As Eternals are fueled by cosmic energy, they have access to a multitude of abilities that are possessed by every Eternal. All Eternals are capable of super strength, teleportation, telepathy, telekinesis, matter manipulation, flight through levitation, creating illusions, and the ability to shoot cosmic rays out of their eyes and hands. Eternals are also nearly impossible to kill because they have complete mental control over the molecules, enabling them to restore themselves at will when their bodies are destroyed. Also, Eternals are capable of channeling their cosmic energy to enhance certain abilities. That's why some Eternals have unique powers of their own, and why some are stronger in specific areas than their fellow Eternals.

Thanks for the primer on Eternals. I haven't followed them in the comics.

They almost seem too powerful with all those abilities, but I'm sure the show will reveal limitations that allow for some drama,. Or maybe the conflict will mostly be Eternal against Eternal end not directed at humans.

Nice to continue to see a continued flow of superhuman stories. As we saw with The Boys and Jupiter and before that with Jessica Jones and others, there are a lot of different angles yet to explore. I'm just glad that the public (apparently) hasn't grown tired of them.

The convergence of female equality/empowerment as part of ongoing real-life cultural trends, along with comic book traditions of superhuman females, SHOULD eventually get us to something excellent. Whether it's a villain or a hero, I don't care.

I'd love to see some unabashed major studio special-effect depicting a scantily-clad superwoman tearing a tank into little pieces with her bare hands -- after surviving getting shot by its main gun. And winding up even more scantily dressed.  Never say never.

The Marvel Comics universe has some stupidly powerful beings, the Eternals are up there, but there are MUCH MORE powerful beings :)

Its comical (no pun intended lol :D )  reading some of the powers these beings have, and the feats that have occured.  Destroying planets?  Baby stuff.  Try whole UNIVERSES :D

To me, this will be the first real test for the MCU. Sure, stuff like that can happen in books and comics. Its fun. Trying to make that into an engaging film experiance?  We'll see.

Peace.

Well, the Eternals weren't meant to be part of the main Marvel continuity (similarly to the New Gods in the DC universe). Jack Kirby imagined both projects as part of his "space gods" epic.

There's a point of diminishing returns with superpower.  Once characters become too powerful, the powers become harder to grasp and make into a show.   A truly godlike character could just wink the universe into nonexistence.   That would just eliminate all the drama.    Or their muscles could flex so rapidly that the energy released would be like a nuke.    The closest to godlike might be Dr Manhattan from Watchmen or Dark Phoenix.   It may be interesting to see how they develop the characters and stories.

Totally agree.  It just gets harder and harder to write compelling stories for them.

One could level this argument to Superman for example.  Its hard to actually make a compelling story, yet the character is probably the most iconic superhero in the world. People love Superman.  And, imo, the character works in comics, but is significantly harder to pull off in live action.

Donner's version actually came up with a compelling story, for the most part.  And it also focused in part on Clark and his interaction with the world (a part of the Superman character that is totally absent in the shitstorm that is the DCEU).

So yeah, will be very interesting to see how Eternals plays out.  I'm not an expert on them, but have an idea of who they are, though I have no idea what the story will be, or how they will present the characters (most have been gender/race-swapped anyway).

From what I've seen of the Phase 4 films so far, none has really got me super-excited tbh.

Peace.

A Star Trek episode Who mourns for Adonis has a Godlike creature that can throw lightning bolts and prevent the ship from leaving orbit.   But it turns out he is helped by some type of power source on the planet surface that is vulnerable to the ships weapons.    Once the power source is destroyed he seems to like a normal human.
