Superpowered Rockstars Anyone?

Superpowered Rockstars Anyone? was created by lfan
Looks like Universal has acquired the rights to "Proximity Effect", a comic book about a guy who "empowers" certain people when he's near them (like a superhuman battery). In the comics, his charge-ee is a young female muscian, who gets turned into a petite blond ubergal (Lisa Torres) when she's around him (30 ft). Here's the story:

i'm probably going to get flamed for this but doesn't this sound very much like the cartoon called "JEM" that was on the USA network in the 80s

I saw JEM when it was on a long time ago, and I have read Proximity Effect. About the only thing they have in common is that the protagonist is female. JEM was about a woman who uses a revolutionary hologram generator to take on the guise of a rock star. Other than the ability to project lifelike holograms, thanks to the projectors in her earings, JEM has no special abilities.
The heroine of Proximity Effect, however, becomes super strong(not sure whether or not she's invulnerable too) when in proximity to the guy who's only ability is to empower others(something he has no control over, as his body is apparently constantly putting out the energy for those with the right gene to process)
