Rally for future Wonder Woman series announced.

28 Oct 2010 23:09 #20748 by Artnico
Hello everyone!

All members of this great forum know that Wonder Woman will soon be back on screen. This new series announced is a real opportunity for all fans of Superwomen. :D

But after the announcement of the future series, several concerns have emerged:

- Firstly, the director, David E. Kelly, who has worked on the series "Ally Mac Beal", is a surprise because it is not deemed to be familiar with the world of comics Superheroes. He was chosen to break the traditional approach of the character. I agree that the character evolves, but it's feared that he doesn't put forward Wonder Woman's super powers, but probably more her weaknesses related to her femininity. :?
- Secondly, the new Wonder Woman costume appeared in issue 600 from DC Comics (which looks fine), doesn't put forward her powerful amazon body. We almost couldn't see part of her body skin because of the likely primetime broadcast. One can fear once again we may see a simple Heroine without major super powers who will be more expert in martial arts kicks (like Lara Croft, Buffy, Catwoman, Elektra... that I love), than being superstrong enough to lift cars. :x

That's why I wanted to speak to all our group, especially to all who love Superheroines who possess incredible superhuman strength.
If you want to see a powerful Wonder Woman, daughter of gods with the strength of Gaïa and Hercules, thank you for responding positively to what might be our petition.

As we meet, we may be able to influence Studio Warner and DC so that we can see a super strong Wonder Woman.

Thank you all.

Nico

It's posible that the project may not make even to the pliot stage. Earlier this week, what's considered the the pitching season for network tv ended. Producers and tv studios pitch shows for development for the coming year to the broadcast tv networks. No network has aquired the WW pilot script. May Kelley and Warner Bros tv stuidos were unable to sell WW to any of the five networks.

You're right AJF, but I think we still have to do something that the series takes place after the pilot or not. The earliest will be the best.

I admire your spirit, but I don't think we as a group are nearly large enough to influence the people who decide what kind of audience to target series on.

It seem more and more likely the new series will be targeted at young women, this explains both their director choice and costume.

A while back someone said it will be tamed down like Buffy power wise, but personally I think we would be lucky if it did, because I think it's more going to be like 90210 and the likes.
