DC's Raven for the CW? was created by AJF
It was reported on Dec 3 that, the CW network has oredered a pilot script for series baesed on the DC comics Teen Titans character Raven. the script is being wrtten by Diego Gutierrez. The project is being looked at as a potentiel replacent for Smallville.
More proof the Kelley couldn't sell WW to the CW.

I wouldn't go so far as to say "proof", but its further evidence that canonical good characters like WW and SG, who are also physically super-powerful and can fly, aren't going to fly for these guys at CW.

I've been holding out hope that they can see their way to a fairly dark, complicated Supergirl spin-off from Smallville. I suppose it would also have to have an unrequited romance angle as well to work for a mass audience. Maybe even something as dysfunctional as the Clark, Lana arc that tortured us for eight seasons or so. But that was key to keeping many people watching.

Not that I prefer SG as a "dark or bad girl" character, but CW guys might feel that would give her enough of an "edge" to be interesting to an audience. Although a Dark Angel kind of characters (a cat burglar with a heart of gold chased by powerful enemies) was great fun, but SG is way too powerful to handle that way. I don't think the Darkseid versus SG arc has enough legs either.

That said, I can see why Raven, as an empath with teleportation powers (very easy special effects to portray on screen), appeals to them from a budget standpoint. But I'd give her a "2" on the superheroine scale compared to a "10" for WW or SG.

Which in the end, might be the point as seen from CW. They still haven't fully unleashed Superman after ten seasons (or whatever) on Smallville. Mental angst of the romantic type sells more soap than leaping tall buildings.

Raven smells like supernatural or Buffy rip off show than a super hero one

Going ahead is the only one way to go to the future.

It will be cool only if Starfire and Wonder Girl will be recurring characters :)

CW passed on the pilot order. They do not have any DC Comics related projects for the 2011-2012 season.
