Straight from the mouth of the short-lived Amazon Princess herself:

Props go to Crave Online who did the original interview with her .

Poor writing and a complete lack of understanding the character killed the show. (Thankfully)

While I agree that they did not understand the characters, the hard reality is that often shows are at the whim of an exec (or team) and whether they like it -- or is a pet project -- or not. Bad writing sometimes still will get you on the air. Last Resort and Revolution are prime examples of that this year...

I still hold to my guns that it was totally salvagable if they wanted to rework parts of it. To not even air it and give it a chance was a little ridiculous after the marketing and promo they gave it in the offseason. It wasn't unwatchable....

I still think both WB and Kelley didn't really believe in the project and were just trying to make a fastbuck. Kelley himself seemed to doubt if even he was the right person to develop the show. That's what I think NBC entertainment chief, Bob Greenblatt thought when he turned the show down.

A show like Revolution (I had high hopes - sigh) makes it past the pilot and is given a chance - why not WW? Were there issues? Sure. Would it have gotten better with a couple episodes? I’m confident. Would it have been as iconic as the original? Probably not but it would have been fun. Would it have made a ton properly franchised/merchandised? I’ll bet. What a shame. Politics? Really?

I had no faith in that creative team after I saw the pilot. Wonder Woman, all three of her personalities, was a completely unlikeable character.

Kelley was the wrong person for the job.

Personally I think that the pilot had lots of good ideas, but mashed together in a pretty bad way and the result was - as a consequence - pretty bad.
E.g.
  • I think that the idea of WW having a third identity to gave her a more normal human perspective is actually interesting, too bad none of her personalities ammounted to anything likeable.
  • Also, if her double identity as WW and Diana Themiscyra is know, why is she still free. She run around doing some pretty impressive vigilante stuff, so she should be at least bring in for questioning (big plot hole).
  • I don't mind seeing WW killing, but the way they included this element in the story was completly gratuitous and badly timed.

And so on.
A pitty, because I think that casting Adrianne Palicki they actually got a good balance for the character.

As for politics. I don't know, but it seem a pretty far-fetched explanation to me.

I think it's kinda crazy that we're still talking about this pilot..
