Supergirl's life going the other way

Supergirl's life going the other way was created by shadar
The new Supergirl TV show made me think back to one of the previous times DC launched a Supergirl comic series. The time was 1982 and a twenty-something Supergirl is looking to create a life for herself -- as Linda Danvers.

This is the opposite scenario from the TV show (where she's learning to become Supergirl). In this comic series, she's trying to learn to become just Linda Danvers and have a normal life after many years flying around as Supergirl.

Here are the first four pages of the first issue... interesting how the story was going exactly the opposite way of the current show.

It's dialog rich... and it starts on a train...

I never knew about this story arc. Learn something new every day. Anyways, I think that idea for a story arc is neat. Wish I had the comics for it now. Ah well...

If only there was some kind of online interactive timeline, with details of all the old Supergirl comics. And if only said timeline had links off of all its Daring New Adventures of Supergirl entries to blog postings where one could actually read scans of the old issues. Gosh, y'know, some fool should try and create such a thing..! ;)

The DNAoS series was one of my favourites, and certainly well worth checking out -- if only for the Infatino art. They're up on Comixology right now, I believe.

Talking of old story arcs: Consider yourself a Supergirl fan?!?? Quiz time: what does the following remind you of...?

Kara Zor-El, aka Supergirl, works in her everyday identity at a media and entertainment organisation in a large American city. She has a crush on a slightly older, more successful, work colleague, but he doesn't seem to like her back. Instead she spends a lot of time with another male workmate who is closer to her own age and position in the company, although romance never really blossoms. The company is also home to a rather bitchy woman who is obsessed about Supergirl, and spends most of her time making Kara's life a misery. Kara struggles to balance her commitments as Supergirl with her job at the company.
