I watched the first four and thought Adora was already very strong compared to her 80's counterpart and the sword of power gave her a massive buff, pun intended considering the things she sliced and ripped up.

Sure, she's not lifting mountains yet but I wouldn't say she's de-powered. More like showing off less savoe for a scene in an episode which I thought was cute.

ive seen them all now, Mynn.   I can see where you're coming from especially after her first battle but  ......well, we'll talk after you see them all.

She isnt weak by any means, just not really showcased like it the old series.....

I finished the entire season and I see what you mean. No extreme super strength per se.

I've binge watched the first 4 episodes and so far I'm still not 100% sold on this. As much as I don't like the animation style, I appreciate that they tried to make the various characters as visually different as possible. The storyline looks good so far and the dialogues are quite funny... but there's one problem that I hope would be addressed at some point down the line: most people seem to forgive Adora a bit too fast.
It's not as bad as the old Secret of the Sword scene when she literally walks into the rebel camp with Adam and pretty much join the rebellion on the spot with nobody objecting, but still. So far the character that distrusted her the longest was Glimmer and even that last pretty much 2 episodes.

It's only a 13 episode season though which means very small distances between plot points.

Well, I've finished watching the series and I have to admit there a lot of stuff in it. A lot of good and a lot of bad.

The art style still don't match my tastes, although I have to praise that the development team was clearly trying to all the main characters a discinct silhouette without making some of the "visually busy". Also the transformation sequence does a great job at outlining the phisical differences between Adora and She-Ra.

Characterization is very hit or miss, often by the episode. It works with some bugs (some of the inside jokes are really a bit too much). Adora and Catra are pretty much the stars of show, with their relationship being the focus of most episodes and the main development arc alongside the friction between Glimmer and Queen Angella. Most of the Princesses outside the main cast have very one-note personalities, but I think that can bec excused given that this season was mostly worldbuilding. The one character that actually surprised me was Scorpia. The combination of this giant musclebound lady with claw, who could switch from nice and dim-witted to vicious on a moment notice really clicked and what little we discovered about her background really had a lot of potential. In many way she reminded me of a character from another '80s cartoon: Cindaar from Visionaries, big, strong, dim, ruthless, but not 100% evil.
