I thought this show was pretty good.

Started off a little slow with the standard stuff but then........
I loved the idea of a middle aged ex superhero seeing a problem and donning the suit once more.
I LOVED the rampage at the motel.

Looks like his daughter might even become his sidekick.

It was much better than I thought it would be. The effects were pretty decent.

It's rare to show a star hero with adult (well one is 16) year old children. It's a fresh viewpoint. Mix into that the racial viewpoint, also a bit rare for a super-hero, and it doesn't feel like the other shows on the CW.

You grok why he quit, he needed to take care of his family first AND he'd figured out a way to make the local school a safe zone. "I've saved more lives as a principal than as Black Lightning."

He's also a hero that tried to resolve his problems FIRST in his civilian identity rather than resorting to beating people up with his heroic identity. (The only time he failed was when he blasted the police/police car, and they showed in a previous encounter why he might have lost patience there.)

He did seem to be in a bit of denial, but part of that denial is that he had agreements to keep his school safe, so he wanted to invest time keeping those working.

I liked they showed him hurt. I wonder if his power-set includes faster than normal healing. Not Wolverine, but "heals in days rather than weeks" sort of thing. A lot of heroes seem to un-officlaly have that as plot armor.

Both his daughters are supposed to end up with powers, it'll be an interesting development.

Also, at some point we get Grace Choi.

We'll get our first glimpse tonight. Love the homage to the Outsiders!

Current episode (103) has the daughter discovering her strength. Not a lot to watch, but I expect more to come next week.
